Maybe dump Australia back into Oceania. Would solve some of the A-League problems (we'd be in the same confederation) and our national teams would start playing competitive games against each other. What's not to like?

WE have Plonker of the month?

DG explains that commercial incentives from Foxtel ultimately contributed to teams from Sydney & Melbourne being added in current round of expansion. HAL needs to move to 14 teams, and TAS would be better placed in next round, possibly in next 2-3 years #FFACommunitySummit

There is no way Australia want to come back to Oceania. They will do everything they can to stay in Asia. As author says an expanded 48 team WC with 8 Asian spots should appease the Gulf Nations. They are the ones who seem to have a problem with Oz, not the East Asian powerhouses like Japan, Korea or China.

Actually for NZ Football/AWs Asia splitting in two, and OFC joining East Asia would be a good thing.

AAFC still planning for 2020 for 2nd Tier competition

"Now the Association of Australian Football Clubs - representing the NPL clubs bidding to join the second tier and potentially the A-League - insist they still see The Championship launching in 2020...and have high hopes for promotion and relegation to follow."

The Fan is still spinning

In response to an extremely perceptive question from the floor [Who asked that, Adrian? Was it by any chance...you? - Ed], Nikou said that in the absence of a breach of conditions, Central Coast Mariners (like all current Australian clubs) were guaranteed their place in the A-League until 2034.

Seconds later there was pandemonium as the penny dropped. Michael Lynch and Tom Smithies were all over him, demanding to know exactly what that meant for promotion / relegation, and his answer couldn’t have been clearer.

"Under the current licences all Australian based teams have a right to be in the A-League until 2034. ...there is no prospect of promotion and relegation until then."

If every Phoenix home game was a 3pm Saturday kick off, we'd get the families along and being only 1pm over there it would be a great entree into a Saturday triple header. Cant Fox aka Ffa, see that? A win win for the Nix, Fox, FFA, Fans and players.

A 1pm AEST time KO on a Saturday in Australia (12pm in QLD & about 10am in WA), would be a big time viewing ratings loser for Foxtel, esp being over the summer months.

Interesting the  wispers got Radio to broadcast this

"Just heard on the radio that the father in question was trying to get into the grandstand, obviously, without a ticket, and became very abusive to the security who were trying to stop him. Also, from what I heard, he had a carer with him and he was the one tossed not carer and daughter. Anyone care to verify this."

When it was

"What I understand of what happened is Rory has been taking his daughter to the same disabled toilet all season. There are apparently only 2 int he entire stadium, one at each end of the ground. He usually has access to the toilets at the northern-western corner but as security staff were being so over zealous about ticket requirements he was refused entry to that part of the ground and told to use the other disabled toilet. This would have involved taking his disabled daughter with Downs (who was already struggling with the commotion) on a massive lap of the oval. Rory quite rightly couldn't understand why he was being denied access to the disabled toilets when he was with one of the few people in the stadium who would actually be using them!"

The other Side of the story:

But police have now publicly challenged Mr Carroll’s version of events.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Walton tells Ray Hadley the man’s daughter wasn’t with him when the incident began.

“He was trying to get into the grandstand on his own. He pushed past some ushers and security.

“He was not permitted to go in there because he didn’t have a valid ticket for that area.”

Mr Carroll also claimed he and his daughter, who has Down syndrome, were kicked out of the ground.

AC Walton says that’s just not true either.

“He was alone asked to leave. Not his family or the other man that was with the children.

“I’m confident that if there was a need for a disabled person to go into an area where they didn’t have a ticket, they’d be facilitated.”

A police officer involved in the incident at Kogarah has contacted Ray Hadley, confirming Assistant Commissioner Walton’s version of events.

The Senior Constable, who asked to remain anonymous, says the man was on his own and not with his daughter when he “attempted to access an area he was not allowed into”.

“Once not allowed entry, he used physical force to push past a female security guard.

“Once several burly male security guards got involved, he stated he needed to get back to his children.

“At this point he used excuse and excuse not to be evicted from the stadium.”

There were 10 cops to throw out a father and his 3 daughters out of the football. What an absolute joke @ALeague #SYDvMVC #BigBlue #ALeague pic.twitter.com/IXwrmB5Cu8

— John Miles-Craig (@aussiejcmc) May 12, 2019

“As he was escorted without force, we were booed as if we were Paul Gallen playing at Suncorp Stadium.

“There’s always to sides to the story.”

Great, he was perfectly welcome to leave his Down's Syndrome daughter behind, thanks NSWP.
