BALLYMORE is set to host an A-League match for the first time.
The Courier-Mail has learnt that the Herston stadium, once the home ground of the Brisbane Strikers in the old National Soccer League, looms as the venue for Brisbane Roar-Newcastle Jets clash on December 20.
The Roar's usual home ground Suncorp Stadium is unavailable for the whole of December due to Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi concerts.
It had been the Roar's preference to play the match at 1300SMILES Stadium in Townsville, the former home of the short-lived North Queensland Fury.
However, it is understood Football Federation Australia officials would rather the match be played in Brisbane or its surrounding areas to ensure regular Roar supporters can still attend the match.

Roar members will not have to pay extra to attend the game, which was not part of their original membership deal.
“They’ll get 14 matches at Suncorp Stadium rather than 13," Dobson said. “Almost everything had been ticked off for the match to be played at Ballymore, but we’re really happy with the way it’s worked out.”
So Brisbane play a regional game at their home ground. Sydney played their one at ANZ last season, is it safe to say the regional round idea is dead?
Dobson said Brisbane did not have to add to their current squad,
revealing that Kofi Danning, who last season played for Belgian club CS
Vise, was in fact back on the club’s books despite the likelihood he
won’t play at all this season after having a knee reconstruction.
Danning’s nominal Roar deal ensures that Brisbane have reached the minimum A-League requirement by filling 20 of the 23 permitted A-League squad spots.

That is just insane. Can't sign a striker Mulvey wants but the club signs someone who had his 3rd knee reconstruction and probably wont play this season.

That's one of the worst A League pitches I've ever seen. The quality of football in this league is always going to be compromised with the current stadium sharing arrangements most clubs have to put up with.
Jets are actually coping better with the surface; Roar can't get their passing game going.
And the super sub kills off Roar. I have to admire what Van Egmond has done with this team.
