Round 1 draw done

highlights of draw include

first time ever entered Horowhenua\Kapiti Div 1 team Otaki Purutaitama take on Cap Prem Tawa

fair scope for upsets with 6 Central League sides drawn against lower league opposition (the other 4 sides have a bye)

As has become the rule, Miramar are drawn away, this time to Petone

Got a feeling Marist may employ an 11-0-0 formation for their game against Olympic

Would Vic beating Wellington United be seen as a cupset? No idea if it will happen, but one of the bigger chances for a Central League side to go out, based on current form.

Was speaking to someone at the weekend who reckoned otaki in with a shot against tawa. Not sure I agree... But he made an interesting case for it

Some succulent draws for this round. I'll definitely be heading along to the vic uni vs united game, should be a fiery battle. I heard the views are good from the opposite side of the dorms at the Uni turf

Is there an actual draw out (as in kickoff times etc) yet?

Nothing on capital football website that I can see. Which is a bit odd given the games are this weekend.

It would be good if the kickoffs were staggered in a way people could watch multiple games in similar areas. Say Naenae have a 12 kickoff, Nui have a 230 and Petone have a 5pm.

So apparently you're only allowed a maximum of 3 subs in the Cup.
FIFA rules say you're allowed a fourth sub in extra time. New Zealand football haven't written that into their regulations...

no it's in the 2018-19 laws. Could have been brought in this winter.

Cupset in Whangaparaoa. hibiscus Coast (Northern League 1) 0 , Zamantix Rovers (Auckland Sunday League) 2 and it could have been more as rovers had a vaild goal disallowed for offside and hit the bar from a 25 yard freekick. can't really remember a chance for HBC.Rovers by far the superior footballing side. Not really sure what is going on at HBC this year. Club is booming numbers wise and has improved facilities continually. First team was on the fringes of the promotion race to Premier Division 3-4 years ago ; now they are bottom of NL1 , pointless with massive negative GD. Team they have put out this year looks like an Under 20 team - all the regulars - fletcher , Cyra x 2 , jones , Mayes (at FHM) all gone , It's okay blooding youngsters in NL 1 but not 11 at a time. They'll almost certainly get relegated this year and NL 2 is a difficult league to get promotion from. Be interested as to the rationale behind the turnover of personnel. Was men against Boys today - surprised how well Rovers fitness held out .

VUW 3 - 1 Wellington United. United have some good individuals (Owen Smith and Manny Achol in particular) but are very clearly 11 individuals and it really didn't look or sound like they have much of a plan. Vic only have a couple of Central League-quality players but they're a good team and that was the difference today.

Zamantix upset Hamilton United in the preliminaries as well. Just a bunch of lads not taking things too seriously (lots of beer guts out there today) but happy to play old school and get the ugly stuff done.

Lost both their CBs to injury in the first 20 minutes.

The bike thing is a bit of a laugh. I hear it's just an over enthusiastic exercise gear salesman.

Stokes vegas basically a lower hutt/petone hybrid, not suprised they got the win over brooklyn. Brooklyn looks like theyve lost a few from last year. Maybe sick of missing promotion every year.

Wainui v seatoun, this suprised me. Anyone have details? No more broken legs?

Otaki holding tawa to 4, not bad.

The rest of the results seem quite standard
