Trying to find highlights of the NZ v Egypt game this morning on youtube only to be met by videos of people playing FIFA and Modern Warfare or 'watch nz v egypt live at this website' or some shit. Why are people so shit?

I hate how when you search for football videos on youtube a good half of them are people playing FIFA. Seriously, no one actually cares (unless its like that weird kissing celebration by Andy Carroll)

I fucking hate the All Blacks!

And before you ask, my hatred has nothing to do with the fact I have consumed no less than 10 bottles of monteiths crushed apple cider tonight. I hated them before I started drinking!

OK - I might not have all the facts and I haven't really followed the deaths in Afghanistan too closely.

For the record I am ambivalent towards NZ's involvement in the forgotten Waugh.

However as reported in the DP and Granny Herald, the comments by Barbara Sumner-Burstyn seem both spiteful and offensive.  First up NZ is involved in reconstruction and I haven't heard of any innocent civilian being killed by our armed forces.  Secondly Jacinda Baker was a medic - about as removed from harming people while in the military as one could possibly be.

Sadly it seems unlikely that Ms Sumner-Burstyn will retract her comments, such is the extent of her hubris and ideological high ground that she seems to occupy.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/music/7556863/Morrissey-may-be-NZ-bound

"Earlier this month the influential singer posted a statement on the website criticisng the feel-good coverage of the London Olympics

"Has England ever been quite so foul with patriotism? The 'dazzling royals' have, quite naturally, hi-jacked the Olympics for their own empirical needs, and no oppositional voice is allowed in the free press. It is lethal to witness," he wrote."

What a massive twunt.  He and Babs Sumner-Burstyn should get together and form the Miserable Gits Society.

What is the point of this article Mr McMoron?

  1. There is this thing called bi-culturalism - you know, where someone can straddle two cultures.
  2. She has spent two-thirds of her life in NZ (and does it really matter where she was born?) of course she's going to speak with an NZ accent and use NZ idioms.
  3. You. Are. A. F*cking. Moron.

I see your moronic article and raise you a pointless moronic article - more Jesse Ryder bashing:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/sport/7558327/NZC-not-worried-by-Ryders-gambling-tweets

Man not under contract with national sporting body bets on sports he does not play professionally. In other news (it must be related because it was in the same story) Willie Ripia is a sportsman who has a gambling problem and stole money from teammates. I’m sure that the journalist isn’t implying that Ryder has a gambling problem without any evidence, because that would be irresponsible.

And the follow up article http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/opinion/7586402/Opinion-Not-taking-it-easy-on-Jesse-Ryder

Extract "My advice to Ryder - not that he will be interested, as is his prerogative - would be to tread carefully on Twitter and use the medium to build a fan-base by informing his followers of his progress and establishing a comfortable rapport. I believe his bets are an area best kept out of the public eye."

So only post carefully thought out snippets of nothingness run through a PR advisor to be sure to not say something that might be anything because if you don't muppets like me will jump on it, take it out of context, and imply false equivalence between a bet and a gambling problem.

I share the same thoughts aitkenmike but haven't bothered to start a post about it because it will turn into a massive rant. Have you commented on that article? when I saw it this morning I noticed comments were enabled but I'm afraid if I read them there will be more muppets like him than people who have better things to do than follow Jesse until he gives them a crumb to feast on.

I left a comment but about an hour later it hadn't been published. It may have contained some explatives. Not only is he wrong that it's newsworthy but also that taking quotes from twitter is good journalism.

Sometimes a rant is cathartic though - I felt much better after my rant in the cricket thread post the test 1 debacle.  No, I didn't post a comment in the article as I worry that having X number of comments on an article is seen as a good thing by the big wigs in the newspaper -'ooh controversy' type stuff, so didn't want to contribute.

You know I'd never thought of it like that. Obviously I realise that they put these articles as the big picture to the right* of the stuff website to attract attention but I bite almost every time.

I guess if there's going to be 500 comments there might as well be 501 and at least feel like I got it off my chest.

Teachers unions.

"NZEI national president Ian Leckie said children being told their school was "not up to standard" would undermine self-confidence and decrease their motivation."

HARDEN THE FECK UP!

Let's apply that to football:  "Sorry James Musa - you are not up to standard for the Nix"...

Why the feck shouldn't there be standards?  What's wrong with having benchmarking?

Rather than cater to mediocrity isn't it better to target the extremes and measure progress in them?

She was out and came home to find a nice clean kitchen and then launched into me because she was yet to make her dinner!

Being let down massively by people who's word you trusted.

Am very close to not attending the match vs Smurfs tomorrow night because I was strung along by someone for over two months who has now had to bail due to work commitments, leaving me with no transport, accommodation and very very fucking angry!
