I’m sure a lot of you know Matt Weldon-Smith, & are aware of the amount of effort he has put in, helping others over the years.

Matt is an active member of the Yellow Fever, & set up the Fever Dreams charity for Ronald McDonald House.

Unfortunately last Saturday Matt suffered a pretty major health incident while reffing a match out in Eastbourne.

With serious rehab ahead, a family to support and the usual bills to pay, a group from Eastbourne Football Club wanted to start a GiveALittle page to help Matt out during a tough time.

If you can help out in any way, I’m sure it would be appreciated by all concerned.

Bump, shame it seems few are interested in someone whom has done so much towards others. The silence is deafening?

I can update you that he is on the road to recovery. They got the "Magic injection" into him before the hour was up so there appears to be no neurological damage done. He still needs some support and messages of love or respect though.

the give a little is doing well and would suggest the opposite. I think people have just used other mediums, Facebook, Twitter etc to send messages etc rather than here

Cheers for that, I thought some might like to leave a message of encouragement on here considering.

Actually fair call LG. I only dealt with Matt on a couple of occasions (always to do with the charity work he carries out in the community) and I found him to be a really great human. So best of luck for a speedy and full recovery mate, no one deserves it more!

Will make my pledge of Give a Little tomorrow!

Matt is a great guy.  Never met him personally but he did also help out when my dad was in the hospital and always cares a lot about other people.  Hope he recovers quickly.

I'v met him a fair few times. One of the most "positive" people I have known and this has to play an important part in his recovery.

I always give money for the fever dreams, this is excellent work. He onced ask me to hold his youngest when he had to go the rest room at Dave Farrington Park, they both seemed very nice ;-)

Hope he is recovering well.

Honestly, I'm so touched by the amount of people that have reached out to me and offered support or assistance. I truly didn't expect this response and it's meant so much to me!

Thank you to everyone who contributed as well, honestly it's a massive weight off my shoulders not having to worry about finances to cover everything while off work. I am home now but will be off work for a while and need time to recover.

I am incredibly thankful to the players from both Eastbourne and Western Suburbs who looked after me. I honestly believe that thanks to the quick response from everyone (players, ambulance and doctors) I'm starting at a much better place than could have been and I'm already on the road to recovery.

The messages I've received from the footballing community have been amazing, with special mention to the Nix and Capital football along with the amazing support from Eastbourne. I'm so proud to be a part of this community and here is hoping it isn't too long before I'm out there in the middle again. Will definitely be around as soon as I can be and continuing the Fever Dreams stuff as well.

Thanks

Matt
