Strangely enough I got an E mail this morning from Veolia, they will be hiring drivers early next year and as long as I can get a work permit they will be inerested in employing me.
So who knows might see you all at a Phoenix game.Come on you Yellows!!!!
Thanks everyone for your help,I appreciate it.
In theory there is a major upgrade to Auckland suburban, with elecrification. Would be a growing opportunity I imagine.

My wife and I would love to move to NZ.I work as a train driver in
Wales.Do you need train drivers there?
Not here - our railways are pathetic and run down - owned by an
American company Toll Freight. Try Aussie - they are one short
after a crash today - 11 dead unfortunately - risky business. come
out anyway - full employment, plenty of jobs. Spose you are looking
to migrate as skilled worker?

Aussie company - Toll.
Last time I checked they were looking for drivers on Wellington suburban rail. They have just had a big investment in 70 or so new units, plus extention of the lines up the coast.
http://www.tollrail.co.nz/ - might have something about employment opportunities. Pretty sure freight is growing as well.

Our rail Network is owned by the Government - New Zealand Railways
Corporation aka: "ONTRACK". They are now, finally, well funded and
the infastructure is getting upgraded.
Our rail-way stock operations are largely deregulated, but as
of yet there is only one player running stock along the lines -
Toll Holdings. If you wanted to operate a train in any way, you'd
have to approach them.
The train service in Auckland is average. But try here for info.

Quite right News, There is a good opportunity for rail to grow in
Auckland. With the right investment. Except for the North Shore.
Well, not in my lifetime.
