Our Kiwi Football Language: Ideas Wanted for Book
I received this request from an overseas football journalist who messaged me here on Yellow Fever forums.
If anyone has any ideas maybe you could post them here or message me on the forums and I'll message him with them, giving you credit of course:
"My name's Tom Williams and I'm a journalist from the AFP news agency. I'm getting in touch to ask for your help with a book that I'm writing. I was encouraged to contact you by one of the members of the Big Soccer forum. The book is a global football glossary, due to be published prior to next year's World Cup, and I was hoping you might be able to help me with the section on New Zealand. Are there any football words or phrases that strike you as typical of New Zealand, or terms that Kiwi players/coaches/commentators tend to use that you don't hear anywhere else? They might be names for pieces of skill, types of goal, styles of player etc. or more general words about fan culture, off-pitch matters or famous incidents in Kiwi football.
