Kevin Fallon's comments about his rivals pulling out of a final because they were scared to lose are ridiculous. It's apparent that whatever happened on the park the other day in the "man-handling incident", the opposition don't want to play a team coached by Fallon as a result. He needs to take a look at himself and ask how it got to this point. He talks about winning the triple as if he is coaching a professional team, he seems to forget it is a school boy team he is coaching. I'm all for competition but Fallon has lost the plot, he doesnt seem to instill any concept of good sportsmanship in his team and it's not a surprise really that another school doesn't want to play against him.

I know exactly where Kevin's coming from on this issue, because the same thing happened to me over twenty years ago when a championship was at stake.

The St. Peter's U14B team I coached needed to beat AGS to win the league in 1986, and become the first soccer team in the school's history to win a soccer championship.

We won it all right - by default! AGS didn't fancy getting a pasting from the boys on the right side of the Mountain Road overbridge, so they waved the white flag on Friday afternoon! :-))

I'm all for the Auckland Secondary Schools Football Association making an example of AGS on this latest issue. "Default our cup final? Fine - but bear in mind you're not the only ones who can set precedents! Try this one on for size - your school is suspended from entering any of our competitions for a calendar year from October 1, 2008".

That would upset a few folk around and about, eh? :-))

Cheers,

I agree with you on a lot of things scousekiwi but not here.  Something serious went on in Napier whatever the rights and wrongs of the incident.  There is nothing at all to back up Fallon's claim that AGS is defaulting because they are scared, and it's pretty clear that this ha snothing to do with it.  The fact that they've reached the final shows that they are competitive.

Do you think that anyone would make a decision such as this lightly?  None of the 7th former's in the team will have another chance at this competition.  There is absolutely no way they would be doing it without good cause.

But isn't it pathetic that Kevin Fallon is accusing a team of school boys, 18 year olds, of being scared?  Doesn't that just say everything about how out of control this idiot is?

Na, surely he means more the injury to the pride of the great Auckland Grammar?

What a idiot! Seriously is that what he has been saying? There is an investigation and he is saying stupid statements?

Sounds more like red herrings but has he forgotten that John Morris (AGS headmaster) is not a newbie to Football and still has very strong connections and reputation with NZF after stepping down from NZF board. He would not be making such a decision for AGS that lightly at all.

Hard to understand why Fallon would treat this as some trash sledge pre-game talk (without the game of course) and not a serious incident.

He should be ban from soccer for being a nob after that statement. Less of that the happier everyone will be including MAGS.

He's only says what he is told to say (even when he was previously told not to comment to media beforehand) such a retraction shows his low social IQ again.

I doubt that he really realise the "stupidity" of the comment, only realising the problem he is facing himself, rather.
