Scored in a 2-2 draw this morning

https://streamable.com/mac5z4

2-2 draw at 1860 Munich (4th). Munchen derby.

BM II (18th, 37 pts, -10 GD), stay in the drop zone 1 point from safety, with 1 game left. They finish with a must win/draw against Hallescher FC (11th) - who have nothing to play for.

Both Meppen (17th, 38 pts, -25 GD), and Uerdingen (16th, 40 pts, -12 GD) are catchable for BM II.

Still all a bit moot for Singh you would think, with a probable loan deal coming up.

From this week's Flying Kiwis, referring to 2-2 draw verus 1860 Munich.

Bavarian Football Works: “Sarpreet Singh was probably the best player on the pitch. If only another one of his shots had gone in, Bayern could’ve come out of this with three points. As it stands, relegation is basically guaranteed.”

What this means is that they need to win their last game against Hallescher; fail to do that and it’s all over no matter what else happens. Yet even supposing they do win then they also need both Uerdingen to lose (vs 8th placed SV Waldhof away) and SV Meppen to lose or draw (vs 14th placed MSV Duisburg at home) to avoid dropping to the fourth tier.

Honestly, whether they get relegated or not you’d hope that Sarpreet Singh is a level above that anyway. Ideally with the first team but another loan might be more likely – next season is the last of Singh’s initial contract and if he spends it in the reserve team it’s unlikely he gets another one.

Up Next: BM2 vs Hallescher, Saturday at 11.30pm (NZT)

Full game Singh. As both Uerdingen (draw) and Meppen (win) got points, a win wouldn't have saved BM II anyhow.

So relegation for BM II to German 4th tier, must guarantee a new loan deal (if was ever in doubt) for Singh. Or could Bayern even consider selling him with one year left on his deal, and seemingly not realistically close to the first team squad?

Hopefully he's released for the Olympics no matter what. Sounds like with Cacace it was no fait accompli he was going to released by STVV for Tokyo, so you never know.

Reckon Bayern will look to sell as the first option. May not be too many takers in Germany given the relatively poor loan spell in 2. Bundesliga.
If he could attract interest from clubs in the Netherlands or Belgium that would probably work out well for him and Bayern too.

Got a loan to SSV Jahn Regensburg!
Which may mean a Bayern extension if it goes well? Or no one wanted to buy him?
A new chance at a good level. Anyone know anything about the team?

Optimistic view, is that Bayern still hold some hope he can graduate to the first team squad. Otherwise yes why not just sell him on, and/or let him go to the Olympics. They have also kept him close to Munich (to keep involved his development?). Google tells me Regensburg, also in Bavaria is only 125 km from Munich.

Jahn Regensburg finished 14th last Liga 2 season (out of 18 teams). Singh's other loan side Nürnberg, ended up 11th.

He'll go in better prepared for the physical nature of Liga 2 this time around, plus the Covid situation in Germany like all of Europe, should keep improving - unlike the depressing depths of last winter.

Obviously very early days but good to see him involved and hopefully he can have a better time than at 1.FC Nürnberg. Jahn Regensburg is smaller than them, so should theoretically be lower expectations on him which might give the team more freedom/less pressure, although if they get in a relegation fight might get tough. In the Bayern state looks like they can have 50% attendances, but that’s always subject to change, so playing in front of fans should help lift them. He’s unlikely to get his Bayern contract extended so if he performs there’s a chance Jahn might make it a permanent signing.

I saw on this video he speaks some German, but it seems quite basic, essentially just saying his name and he’s happy to be here. I might be looking into too much but at Bayern with their players coming from many different countries it’s more likely to be in English/mixture of languages. At the second tier it’s more just German players, so probably in games/training they speak more German. He reportedly didn’t settle well at Nürnberg, so I wonder if this was a factor, but there is a Canadian and American at Jahn so that should help him though.

Had a decent run in Jahn's latest friendly - and looks like he went close to scoring in a 1-0 win over Liberec. Fingers crossed things work out there.

And appears to have been rested in Jahn's last friendly (1-0 v 3. Liga Türkgücü München) before their season kicks off on Saturday (11:30pm our time) at Darmstadt. Seems like most players were rotated as friendlies within 24 hours of each other.

eaaily my MotM along with their DM Gimber who scored the second, they were phenomenal. so good to see his talents respected and utilised properly - this is the Singh of old.

Played in the same formation as the Nix in a similar position to Piscopo - was planted very wide at the start of the first half, but was given the freedom to roam as the match progressed a la Davila which highlighted his influence. He seems like a real 'difference' player for Jahn

From this week's Flying Kiwis.
Singh named in the Team of the Week. Pity Olympics weren't a month earlier. Also some interesting info on Liga 2.
https://theniche-cache.com/football/2021/7/27/flying-kiwis-july-27

The thing you’ve gotta know about the second tier of German football this season is that it’s hard case. One of the main reasons that Sarpreet Singh didn’t click with FC Nürnberg is that FCN is a hugely storied club with a heap of fans and when they got off to a rough start they weren’t in the business of indulging a loan player who didn’t quite fit the style they were playing. Or, at least, the style they were planning on reverting to in order to ease the pressure they were under.

And while the 2. Liga was had a couple similar situations last season, this time around it’s absolutely brimming with them. Schalke and Werder Bremen were both relegated (while FC Köln only avoided that fate thanks to a playoff win), joining other famous clubs such as FCN, Hamburger SV, Fortuna Düsseldorf, and Hannover 96 in tier two of Germany footy. Incredibly if you take Bayern Munich out of the equation then there are more historic league titles in the second division than in the Bundesliga itself this term and it’s not even close (42 titles to 26). There are European winners in that group. Werder Bremen of course won a Cup Winners’ Cup back in the Wynton Rufer days.

Good to see he's being given a go in his preferred position. Excellent start to the season with a goal and an assist. Probably goes to show just what a shark fight it was during his time at Nurnberg and not really getting too much of a look in. Keep it up lad, this season is already looking promising indeed. 👏👏

Another assist for Sarpreet in a 3-0 DFB-Pokal Cup win over FC Rot-Weiss Koblenz. Seems like skipping the Olympics is really paying off, this is shaping up to be exactly the kind of season we were hoping he’d have at Nürnberg (and that Rojas would have at Stuttgart). Positive signs overall and hopefully it means Sarpreet can get a move to a top 5 league, or break into the Bayern XI 👀.

This would be a good outcome. But long way to go, and Jahn Regensburg have had a kind draw to date. 3 teams they have beaten, occupy 3 of the bottom 4 spots on the ladder.

Schalke 04 this weekend likely a tougher challenge. Niche Cache highlighted in an article, that there are lots of big ex Bundesliga clubs down in Liga 2 this season.

Holstein Kiel surprisingly bad to start this season, they finished 3rd in 2.Bundesliga last season, won the first leg of the promotion/relegation playoff against 1.FC Köln, but lost the second leg so missed promotion. Think they might have been the first ever team from Schleswig-Holstein (northernmost state) to make the Bundesliga had they gone up. Regensburg were 14th or so last season so big start for them. Great to see Singh getting the goal contributions that he missed last season, I was a bit worried that 2.Bundesliga was too much for him after his spell at Nürnberg.
