His reasons to play for the USA are more than fair enough, don't think he has anyone to answer to.  However, I don't see why kiwis should care too much about him, he's chosen them and won't represent AW's ever again, that's that.  He's getting a lot of press for someone who chose a different country imo.  I think it will turn out to be a huge loss, but it says more about NZF than him.

Because he's a New Zealander achieving on the global football stage. Just because he's playing for a different country doesn't change that. No different to me than supporting Reid or Wood at overseas clubs - I don't support them because they play for NZ, I support them because they're NZers.

in my view less of a kiwi due to his it's all about me and I'll use you when I need you but then I'll go and sleep in someone's else's bed when a better thing comes along

There is a word that describes that so he can go fudge himself

He has a Kiwi father and an American mother and lived in each country for about 10 years before going to Europe. He is about as equally Kiwi and American as you can get. Just because you're salty doesn't make him a traitor or anything. You should listen to him on that Extra Time show, he played for New Zealand because he wanted to make his Dad proud.

Sorry have never believed a word that comes out of his mouth - it's always been about him and a means to an end.

Auckland will rise once more

How about the lad at Leicester who plays for England, never became involved in youth AW setups (who knows whether NZF ever approached him).

I think we would be less hard on him if he tried for the USA first and had never played for the AWs.

Winnie and Rory obviously played for other nations first but then chose NZ unlike Tyler who feels like he’s turned his back on us after representing NZ at the highest level.

Kid has no reason to lie and there is no reason not to take this at face value. Do you really think you're that important that he's done this just to spite you?

Sounds like Beckham's Inter Miami is leading the charge to sign Tyler, as they have "discovery rights" (whatever that is) on him, but I also heard Besiktas has put in a decent bid for him as well. Not a bad position to be in!

Interesting how much the MLS focuses on parity (and transparency) and its continued growth in interest in North America while at the same time here the FFA are reducing mechanisms that focus on parity with the league declining in interest in Australia.

But do they have Derbies? FFA loves Derbies.  More Sydney and Melbourne derbies are going to save us.

Finished 1-0 to the US. Same score when Boyd subbed off.

Tiny Curaçao even without Roly B, must be a useful team. Good run of results last few months.

They're not 'tiny' Curacao really - lot of their players are European based. Guessing that it's a whole bunch of guys with Curacao-ancestry coming together into the national team, which has only re-emerged in the last few years.

Probably similar to the Irish teams of the 1980s, when they called up anyone with an Irish parent/grandparent into the national team, and which actually kickstarted the best era of Irish football, and they're still going pretty well now.

EDIT: Just had a quick look, at most 10 of the players in their Gold Cup squad were actually born in Curacao, the rest were all born in the Netherlands. Only 3 of the 23 actually play in Curacao, the rest are all professionals in Europe.

Similar but very different to the 1982 AWs then.

Or England 'B' as I remember they were referred to an episode, of that old classic Kiwi TV show 'Gliding On'.

Curaçao had a few chances to score as well. Admittedly so did the States. Boyd number 21.

USNT face Jamaica in semis.

Whilst Mexico (beat Costa Rica on pens) & Haiti (3-2 winners over Canada), square off in other SF.

Gold Cup final on Monday between old foes USA and Mexico (needed ET to beat Haiti 1-0), in Chicago.
