Torslanda's (9th) with a 0-0 draw overnight, against Husqvarna FF (old club Joel Stevens & Myer Bevan). Broke a run of losses for Torslanda, who look to be out of the promotion hunt from the Swedish 4th tier.

Sean Bright, Harry Edge, Josh Rogerson, Ryan Feutz, Parker-Price & Dominic Wooldridge all listed in the latest matchday squad up on their website.

Is Bright still on the books with the Danish club,?

Presumably not. Seems to have been at Torslanda since 2020/2021 Danish season finished.

I can fully understand the idea of having a sort of base for ex Ole alumni in Europe, but the likes of Wooldridge & Parker-Price seem to have been there a long time now, without managing to pick up a gig elsewhere at higher than Swedish 4th tier 'pub football'.

They’re actually not bad players tbh.

Probably just need a publicity boost of their playing ability at some point and that could attract interest from elsewhere.

I don’t actually know how European scouting works at all, but I wouldn’t put it past Danny Hay to call Parker-Price or Wooldridge into the All Whites squad at some point.

Hay did actually say way back in 2015 that Parker-Price will be an All White one day.

If they are called into the All Whites and get minutes, that could then attract clubs to keep tabs on them if they like what they saw and eventually make a move to sign of it works out well?

I think this is what Hudson was trying to do with Clayton Lewis, Deklan Wynne, Sam Brotherton and Moses Dyer. Worked out for 3/4 of them.

Torslanda had a 2-1 win over night. Looks like 1 round left and they'll mid table finish in their region of Swedish 4th tier.

Game prior a 3-1 win over the bottom team, both Parker-Price & Feutz got on the score sheet. The Torslanda crowd with a visit from the AWs coach this week?.

Hopefully Kalua picks up a gig in Europe soon. Read somewhere that he had trialled unsuccessfully in Denmark.

Hay wouldn’t bring him into the AWs setup?

Unlikely but there are a lot of ex Ole players in the squad, and perhaps most of the NZF staffers Declan has thrown barbs at in the past, are no longer there??

Torslanda have played 14 games down in their regional 4th tier league. Now 8th on the table after a bad start to the season.

Most recent match report from game 6th June, lists Sean Bright, Harry Edge, Owen Parker-Price & Dominic Wooldridge. Sounds like Bright sadly suffered a bad injury.

Declan no longer listed as a coach. Did I read somewhere he was back in NZ?

Through 18 of 26 matches Torslanda are 11th out of 14 sides. They are two places and 8 points above the automatic relegation spots, and 7 points above the relegation-playoff spot. They are seven games without a win, and have conceded 24 goals in those seven games. To state the obvious, it does not appear they will be heading up to the third tier Ettan this season.

This weekend they lost 0-2 away to second place Husqvarna, the club Joel Stevens and Myer Bevan were at in the 2018 season. Dominic Wooldridge, Harry Edge and Owen Parker-Price all played 90 minutes, and Torslanda only managed to have three players, out of seven allowed, on the bench. It seems the aforementioned injury to Sean Bright still has him out, as he hasn't played since the last update. Edge has played every minute of all 18 matches, as has Parker-Price, scoring three goals, while Wooldridge has started 17 matches. Prior to his injury, Bright had started in all 11 matches, scoring once.

This is now the fourth season of the Torslanda 'experiment', and it hasn't really had much success. In 2019 they finished 13th and were relegated into the fifth tier, though in 2020 they bounced back up, finishing second in their fifth tier league in a shortened season. Last year they had a more respectable seventh place finish in the fourth tier, but this year are back to struggling. Wooldridge, Parker-Price and Edge have been there since the beginning, while they have been joined over the years by: Nando Pijnaker (2019), Andrew Withers (2019), Daniel Keat (2019, 2020, 2021), Ryan Feutz (2021), Josh Rogerson (2021), Sean Bright (2021, 2022). Of those, only Pijnaker really managed to go onto elsewhere in Europe, and even for him it's only been this year that he's managed regular first team football.

I suppose it can be argued that if it creates a network to assist in getting kids elsewhere in Sweden/Denmark, such as Stamenic, Garbett, Ingham etc, while also only being an hour or so drive away from them to help acclimatise, then it has still served a job. Possibly could be more players heading next season over now that it's getting a lot easier to get travel internationally again.

I think don't under estimate the latter value of the Torslanda experiment, and having 'Uncle Declan' in the same time zone, just a phone call away, as a sounding board. Don't forget Garbett for example started in Sweden, which might have been through some Ole/Dan Keat link.

Compare that to the well known Bill Tuiloma story, of almost giving up on Europe, after a lonesome slog around the continent trialling here & there. Before a final opportunity at Olympic Marseille, lead him down a different path.

Two games to go and Torslanda are 8th in their regional division, Swedish 4th tier. Can't be relegated, can't be promoted.

Game back in late September, Harry Edge & Parker-Price were listed in the match day squad.

Torslanda are 3rd (after 5 rounds) in their Swedish 4th tier, regional league.
You have to go back to April 1st since they posted a lineup on their website. But old Ole/ES mates  Wooldridge, Harry Edge & Parker-Price are all still there.
Sean Bright maybe as well.

10 rounds in & Torslanda are unbeaten (7W & 3L), and 2nd on the table. Is 4th tier Sweden with all it's regional splits.

Harry Edge, Owen Parker-Price  and Dominic Wooldridge all still team regulars it seems.

Division 2 is split into 6 regions which I can seemingly translate into: North North, North Central, North South, South North, South Central, South South.

Division 1 it becomes 2 regions, North and South.

Sean Bright is also at Torslanda and I believe he came on in a recent game. Has been recovering from a long term injury.

With 7 games left Torslanda are 2nd, two points off first. This is the Swedish 4th tier.

Looks like with all the various regional leagues in the 4th tier, you have to finish first to be automatically promoted to the 3rd tier (only 2 regional leagues), where Ljungskile currently are.
2nd spot into promotion playoffs.

Looks like they clinched their title (regional Swedish 4th tier) and automatic promotion on GD.

So they go up to the 3rd tier Ettan (Division 1) in 2024. Maybe a case of a bunch of ex Ole alumini replacing, another group of Ole grads going down.

Ljungskile are still in the relegation zone with 3 games left in this season's Ettan.

How old is Bright now? I remember working with him in Auckland as a 11/12 year old he had so much time on the ball it made it look easy. I know he had bad knee injury? But shame he not kicked on since.

Asked Alan Koch what the situation was with Olé & Torslanda IK over in Sweden, given the long time New Zealand connections. This was the answer given...

The question was sparked by an article I found quoting Dan Keat (see below) and the recent arrival of Stjepan Stipuric at Petone FC for Central League/possible National League season. I thought it was a bit odd given the historical Olé & Torslanda links. The above tweet probably explains the move to Petone over Wests.

After Ben Sippola left, would there be many staff still at Ole with a connection with Declan?  Possibly not.
