Worth mentioning that Torslanda's captain left the club one month into the season, the new captain left the club one month ago. Two players that have been very important for several seasons in the club and have strong feelings for the club. That's quite remarkable.

The team I support have two lonees at Torslanda, one centre back and one central midfielder. They have been used as wingers and strikers under Declan Edge. Also weird.

But, hey, they just won with 5-1. They are not screwed yet.

Yipe that 5-1 win sees them climb to 2nd last (automatic relegation spot) with 4 games left.

They are 2 points off 3rd last (relegation playoff spot).

Looks like had a 1-1 draw at relegation rivals Amal (1 position ahead on the table in the relegation playoff spot).

Torslanda remain 2 points behind Amal with 3 games left.

Another 1-1 draw this time against Vårgårda.

Torslanda are now 4 points behind Amal (who are in the relegation playoff spot) with 2 games left.

Their next game is against Stenungsund, who are gunning for promotion.

Get nothing from that game, and Declan's experiment will be playing in the Swedish 5th tier next year.

Ha! Just discovered Declan has blocked me on twitter.

Bizarre behaviour I feel, considering I've only probably responded to maybe 2 of his tweets, neither of which was negative.

And I had actually been considering Ole as an option for my boy. Might rethink that one.

Emoji use far outstrips Trump, and where you know exactly what Trump is on about, Declan may as well be writing a cryptic crossword

He believes neither in climate change nor relegation. Or something like that, haha.

His twitter comments might be a little left field but I will give him credit for his passion in trying to develop NZ footballers. NZ football needs more passionate football people even the eccentric ones.

There a lot of people with passion in youth football without trying to start a cult. Checking his twitter feed it looks like he is loosing his mind.

The relegation debate will be sorted long before the climate change debate but  a 3-2 win v Stenungsund keeps them going to the last game with a far bigger crowd than usual (230).

If they avoid relegation can we expect to see Declan appearing in a turquoise shellsuit in a national TV interview saying everyone at NZF are really Reptilian Shapeshifters

a real battle to stay up, but to beat the 3rd placed team pushing for promotion shows they have some quality.  Sure they can win the last away to stay up ... pending other results

infact they have 4 wins and 3 draws from the last 10 games.... obviously the team is getting better

May only need a draw in their last game to at least secure the relegation playoff spot, rather than being automatically relegated.

Relegated. Torslanda did what they could but IFK Åmål won their game and managed to keep Torslanda behind them. A miserable first half of the season and a pretty decent second half but now they will play in the fifth tier for the first time since 1996.

Will the New Zealanders return to play in your league now, until the Swedish season starts in april?

Nope, we had this discussion over on the Weenix thread back in March.

Apparently if you pick up points later in the season after struggling early on it's because the other teams have nothing to play for.

Interesting question. You would think the Eastern Suburbs boys would now come home.

Unless Declan's organised a 6th tier Dutch club for them now.

They would have an OFC Champions League campaign with ES in April-May next year, that would be lure. Can't remember if there is still a CWC at end of 2020.

Owen Parker-Price went on a trial with professional club GAIS about a month ago. Some players from the same division as Torslanda have been brought to GAIS recently but Parker-Price have not been offered a contract yet to my knowledge and probably won't.

I can't see on sites as Soccerway that the players who spent 2019 with Torslanda are playing anywhere else since. I also read an interview with Declan Edge where he said that they are not interested in returning to your domestic league. So will they wait for the new Swedish season then? Apart from Pijnaker who I presume will manage to get a professional contract somewhere or at least get to a better league.

Ex AWs Dan Keat & Craig Henderson previously played for GAIS (finished 12th in Swedish 2nd tier last season).

Keat is now at Torslanda.

And yeah not sure if many folks saw that article on Declan, released just prior to Christmas

https://thefootballsack.com.au/2019/12/oles-plan-to-reform-nz-football.html

“Players that come to Torslanda can get picked up at the airport by Olé people, and when they go into Torslanda, they can train and play the same way they do here. [It] makes them feel safe and relaxed in Europe.

“None of the boys who went to Torslanda want to come back.”

See Swedish lower tiers still operating. Crowds of 50 people or less still allowed in Sweden.

Watch out for a few 'fixed' games in the Belarussian top flight maybe.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/120723795/coronavirus-swedish-football-game-cancelled-after-bettors-contact-players-coaches

Note sure what that means for Torslanda down in the 5th tier (Division 3), which apparently consists of twelve regional leagues, and over 140 teams. 50 souls could be a bumper crowd at that level.

Do see that Torslanda played a friendly last weekend. Declan is head coach. Wooldridge and Parker-Price played. Plus Harrison Moss-Edge (Harry Edge?)

Seems down in the Swedish 5th tier, friendlies are still allowed, but league itself is postponed.

https://www.torslandaik.com/torslandaik/nyheter/1471589/traningsmatcher-tillatna-med-restriktioner

Update from the Gothenburg Football Association today at 13:00

"Training matches: After the latest update from SvFF, read here , it is now ok to play training matches. It should be pointed out in this context that it is up to each association to decide whether to play training matches. GFF continues to administer training matches and referee appointments. However, the training matches will not appear on the website, at the request of SvFF and the Police, this to make it difficult for match fixing. "

Sweden as a country remains a bit of an outlier, trying to stay 'business as usual' as much as possible. Though read somewhere the strategy it's driven by their state epidemiologist, who holds daily press conferences. Not the head of state saying saunas and vodka, are all that's needed

It's 5th tier Swedish football. He can probably just rock up on the day and look a class above.

Bit like Paul Ifill at Central League level I imagine.

Looks like is now a summer break (all of July) in the Swedish 5th tier.

https://www.torslandaik.com/tik-fotboll-herr/matcher

I guess July is peak holiday time in Sweden, and nearly all the players down at that level would be amateur. Bit like the Handy Prem having a summer break

Season resuming early August, and finishing in October.

Torslanda have had 2 wins since season restarted.

Harry Edge, Parker-Price and Wooldridge all in the starting XI, last time out. Declan is head coach.

Note that this season in Division 3 will see the teams facing each other only once (11 games) because of corona. So a few good games can mean a lot in search for promotion back to Division 2. The league winner is promoted and the runner up qualifies for promotion play offs. My guess is that Torslanda will have to fight for that play off place because at least one other team have a better squad and key players.
