Getting back to Brockie,

Hope he does well, garners a little bit of attention and gets picked up overseas and the Nix recieve a handly little transfer fee.

Wasn't it last year that a  Chinese club offered 400k for him prior to his move to the Nix. Surely he's worth a little more than that now.

Was there any reliable source for this rumour? Because if it was a serious offer I would have thought he would have snapped it up rather then coming to us.

It was reported that the Jets turned down the transfer bid.http://www.theherald.com.au/story/438068/jets-out-to-keep-jeremy-brockie/

Just ask Covic.

Nah that was a shot all the way. Brockie also has great vision and  prophetic knowledge of wind gusts

And an uncanny ability to look surprised and a little embarrassed at the same time!
I hear they're gonna include stats for those in the next FIFA game

Interesting comment on article..

bad: is he one of those players who can build their own stats without really improving the team around them. Is he going to bring the winning mentality to help us get over the hump late on?

Answer no and no.

Also saw comment that all loan players contracts have to have option to sign permanently..so if he did well they could buy him out of Nix contract?  Presumably TFC can exercise that option?

If he came back he would dbe fit and start and tired halfway thru our season.

I'll be interested to see what his salary is if they publish it for loan signings. That is the great thing about the MLS, all the wages can be viewed by all the fans as they debate who is earning their coin

Surely it would only be what they contribute to his wages & the next time they get released, he will be back here in NZ (unless he does well).

We could possibly merge the two threads together at some point in the future, will talk to Nik about it. I agree with you 100%.

Think there might be a Brockie thread in the "Kiwi Players Overseas" section as well ;)

Kevin Payne, the GM of TFC, confirmed Brockie loan is likely just a short term one, due to his contract with Wellington.

Toronto Big Wig has a lot of good things to say about Brockie at about 3.20 onwards.

That interview was excellent. The guy was very upfront and had a 'lets change things now' attitude. No excuses. He could of been talking about the Nix last season tbh.

I expect Brockie to get at least a sub appearance, likely as a winger. TFC wingers just haven't performed lately and if Brockie does well in training, he may even start though probably not due to match fitness.

I've lived the for while in Toronto, it is really, really nice. Canadians have a good 'Can do!' mentality. If Brockie scores, he's not coming back.

Welnix would probably want a significant transfer fee, especially given the late notice and length of contract remaining. I understood transfer fees are rarely very significant in the mls and can't see Toronto targetting him. I can't see Brockie not coming back unless the new coach/manager doesn't really want him.

Yeah, I guess getting a genuine offer from an asian or european club is more likely. But not convinced he is likely to play to that level.

He sounds pretty ambitious to get to Europe, and thinks MLS is a good way to showcase what he's got. Can't blame him. He's at prime age and needs to make the jump before too late and European teams won't look at him due to age.
It is true that MLS teams rarely pay transfer fees, but it's not unheard of, esp in recent years. If a player is really good, teams will use one of 3 designated player spots to pay a transfer fee and salary.
I also think Brockie is hoping to catch the eye of any European scouts that will be around summer months here, esp with European teams holding friendlies in North America.

It's not just about what he wants or what Toronto want. All 3 parties would need to come to an agreement and if they can't he doesn't move.

whilst he may eb using this as a way of getting noticed I honestly can't see him being taken away from us to Toronto. If anything he'll be spotted by a euopean team scout and may pick up a contract/transfer that way....as rjmiller says though unless all three parties agree he ain't going anywhere and I doubt the nix will let him go easily.

He scores good goals and finally started getting the simple ones at the end, but I'm not sure he has the quality to go to the top leagues in Europe. This stint will be a really good marker for himself personally to see where he really is at.

if he wants to go he will work really hard at it. I am not against him going especially if it makes him a better player  ( All Whites ) .and if he stays he is more than welcome .he scores goals

It didn't sound like he had much loyalty to the club in that interview to be honest. He's on a 3 year contract with us and he sounds pretty keen to take a deal elsewhere if offered. Don't get me wrong, I love Brocks and I know he just wants to advance his career but c'mon, show the club a bit of respect.

Depends how much money they'd get surely? Welnix are all about making the club financially self-sustaining so any chance for a cash injection would be looked on favourably I'd guess.

Is this the same Jeremy Brockie who we all thought went missing in games and had a low work rate but redeemed himself by scoring a truck load of goals? If he doesn't score over there, I doubt he'll get noticed by other clubs.

And this is part of why I don't doubt the club would consider selling him if an offer came in.

I would glady sell Brockie if he does well over there, perhaps we would have enough to get a Marquee midfielder from it :)
