That’s a very composed finish. Don’t think there can be too much between him Sutts and McGarry going forward, though he’s clearly in form.
Who’s the best defender of that bunch you’d wonder and also who’s the best athlete, something that really sets Libby apart.
Edit: should remember Wilkins, but can’t think of having seen him do anything.

Detroit win 4-0. Wynne full game

The victory probably locks in playoff spot for Detroit (their 1st season in the USL) with 2 games left.

Wynne with the assist for Detroit's goal. Was 1-1 until the 88th min.

No Jackson Brady for Memphis. His USL career maybe over already.

Another Kiwi on the move in the USA.

Massive loss for Detroit there, but a great pick up for Charleston.

Last seasons stats for Detroit City.
36 games
3 goals
8 assists.

Fourth Kiwi with a move into or between USL clubs this off season so far, following Musa > Colorado, Dyer > Tulsa, and Collier > San Diego.

Solid debut for Deklan Wynne as his new club Charleston Battery drew 1-1 at home with Phoenix Rising.

He'll continue to be a threat this season, much like he was for Detroit last year ⬇️

Hopefully we'll see fellow Kiwi Jesse Randall feature for the Battery after the International break too, or whenever he's formally announced by the club for that matter.

Thought for sure he was going to end up back in America or even Canada, so a nice surprise to see him pop up for Port Vale in England - Even if they are relegation threatened as it stands (21st of 24 in League One).

Good on him. 4 Kiwis now in League One (if you count Mata).

Wynne finally out of the USL, which is a dead end street if you have AWs (and 2026 WC) aspirations.

But Port Vale only have 4 games left, and he hasn't played competitive football since early October 2023 (6 months ago) at Charleston. Not sure he can do much. Will he get to meet 'El President' Robbie Williams??

Port Vale are 21st (40 pts), in a relegation battle with Crocombe's Burton Albion (20th, 40 pts) & Cheltenham (22nd, 38 pts, game in hand). Two of the three teams will likely go down.

I imagine Auckland FC will have some interest in 29 yr old Wynne, though it's rumoured they have signed Francis de Vries (also 29). And Corica's confidant Bazeley seemed to pick FDV more often than Wynne, as an AWs squad backup to Libby. Black Knights may want a younger promising player as their 2nd LB.

Lad’s only 29?? Crumbs. Hope he does well. He’s definitely had a bit of travel out of his career!

Does anyone think this a move in preparation for Port Vale heading down to League Two next season?

A bit of an odd transfer, and a hell of a long way around the other side of the world if he's in consideration for an inaugural Auckland FC season (which I don't think he is anyway).

You are probably right. Read somewhere he had spent some time recently in Auckland since leaving the US. Presumably Corica has had a look at him, and spoken to Bazeley. Sounds like Corica & McFlynn have been researching all potential Kiwis, especially the uncontracted ones. Now they also have Hay to add his two cents worth.

So the fact Wynne is now in the UK, (several months after say Callan Elliot got to Scotland) likely means he's not a Black Knights contender. Also Aucks FC have been rumoured to have signed Francis de Vries. Same age, same position, same ability to switch across to CB in need. Some of their rumoured signings - Woud, FDV, Howieson, Champness, Toomey etc may even be having some early trainings/fitness sessions already at Albany.

But even Port Vale's fans are saying Wynne is a bit of an odd signing. They are still a reasonable chance to avoid relegation.
