His leg is broked so he can't play

And coleman thought james had real potential when he was at fulham, while mulligan was the only one thinkin he had potential

To be fair I've hardly ever seen James play.  Seems like he might be a bit of a Mully tho - good junior player who slips off into the twilight while people still hark back to the days when he had amazing potential.

The reason it hasn't been closed is that when this sub-forum was set up the permissions were stuffed and backroom staff can't close it.

I can't even hide retarded posts on it.

Hey, Thought I'd disrupt this somewhat wayward thread and bring it back "on topic":
Just want to confirm that Chris James hasn't been "dropped"- he's just seriously injured. In fact, he had knee surgery a few weeks ago.
Here's a replay of my original posting about this from a few weeks ago on another thread about who should make the squad:

[QUOTE=Big Pete 65]Just noticed Chris James has just had knee surgery and won't be back in training at Tampere in Finland for an estimated 4-5 weeks (at best). Guess that rules him out of any further All Whites duty this year...Ricki would have known of this when planning his squad.
Report on the Tampere United website dated 26th August: describes how he had surgery last week to fix an injured knee which has been troubling him for a while (no full movement, stiff and in pain). Will be on crutches for a while...
See short news item (in English translation):

Chris James, Kris Bright tries to score in champions League

http://www.dvsc.hu/Lapok/hirek_hud.aspx?id=3239

They are in the best place in the universe to become a footballer right now at the Hungarian Phoenix

Chris&Kris are in Hungarian football capital Debrecen. DVSC unrivaled team for last 10 years. Crap financial status in NB1 forced them to only use free agents and turn them into multi million hot deals within years back to Europe after sorting them out.

Every year looking for bargain second rate nicks from anywhere. Though you would hard press to find players without at least couple of International caps or U21 credentials.

Dszdudzsak@PSV, Balogh@Hearts Bodnar@Dinamo Kiev, Halmosi @HullFC etc now Rudolf before sell to Fiorentina.

Some of the their own youth players other half was unwanted junk before.

DVSC aiming for Champions League Group stages 2nd year in row so lots of transfers stock pilling went on and heaps of game time for players, because injuries.
on.

If DVSC first squad does not use them straight away, "reserves" team DEAC with juniors recently leading the 2nd division in the country.

DVSC without a blink could lend out or sell its players to Hun first division teams or many 2nd divison league through Europe at least bundesliga2 level...

fingers cross

some youtube footage recent Dvsc games

Photos> Bright and James at DVSC

Last afternoon they played with 2nd vs 3rd reserve team
DVSC-DEAC (NBII) vs Ltavrtes (NBIII) separately from first squad.

Hungarian champion DVSC only started training this Monday in the gym after winter break. By the end of the week expected to trial the hopefuls in actual games with the first squad and give the verdict.

Bright left town  *(no surprise, 6-7 strikers lining up there already plus another 4 arrived ).  However Chris James got a  chance, since club legend retirement last winter DVSC without a playmaker.

This morning split groups played an interesting shortened 30min x 30min x 30min game.
with fitting result 3-3. Bold letters the trialists>

Kris Bright had to be back in Shrewsbury for training on Thursday morning to prepare for Shrewsburys League 2 game v Burton Albion on Saturday 16th where he came on as an 85th minute sub.

Kris must be pretty frustrated. A few minutes at the death has all he's been getting for Shrewsbury and Im pretty sure he's still not scored his first goal for them.

I try and put some words out for him for a recall, let's see what happens. He should go back and try. To be honest DVSC may only needs him next season but if he can impress he can inherit Coulibaly place (Drogba2 :) who came from Renault factory part time player last year to score 3 times in CL straight away and become no1 line up number. He will be on market before end of year (near 1 milion euro was offered for him to DVSC straight after CLQ games already) so position will be open within a year.

Zole you appear to have access to what maybe going on in the Debrecen setup. If so your contact will be able to confirm that Kris was only going to be in Hungary for three days & the club knew that. It is also more than probable that he will be returning to Hungary in the very near future which your source will also be able to confirm.

All I know is if I was him I would try push the envelope.

Players often arrived DVSC not for the money but the opportunity to progress. Tall and strong strikers only last for a year or two in DVSC. Former strikers from recent years like 2006 Sidibe 1.93m now top scorer in Belgium Jupiter League, Kouemaha 2007 1.93m now in FC Bruge.

Hence both african born, now Adamo is the third in the line of black forward 1,88m he will go back to France next season, never mind 4y contract.

Before 2005 mostly Serbian strikers were preferred because proximity and often dual nationality like Kerekes etc. so there is already one to take the place Kosta Bjedov 1,94m arrived )

Dvsc has had far to many strikers until now, as the owner obsessed with that. However one *(Kerekes)had retired, the 2 starters before sell (Rudi, Couly 1,88m), Fece only on short term loan from Italy 1,87m, Vinicius too green and 2 left in question (Olah 1,8m / Dudu 1,79m)

Now they seem to chase the former Cameroon U15, U17, U23 Yannic playing in one other Hun team. However he is only 1,68m so ultimately they want someone with a height and power, especially since previous strikers worked well and now Adamo Coulibaly was such a success that new playing stile took over.

Hi all

I had my hopes high for the kiwis but as it seems only Cameroonian Essama (scored a hat trick during test match) and French-Portuguese Robic stayed on further testing.

What I tried to say is test games with first squad counts. James does not seem to make the cut, Bright did not even stayed as long.

Have to remember the CL aspirations and to get invited to look up was huge, as over 160 players and managers turned up at DVSC door this winter break.

Plus so far only one guy left Hun-Brasil Leandro to Cyprus team Omonia which also rival in CL race.

(In fact Cyprus teams well above financially as surprising it seems. The quality football over there: 2 different Cyprus teams qualified to CL group stages within 2-3 years. It tells a lot, plus better climate :)

It all depends who will leave the team if any, and when.

Zole what you need to take on board is that Kris Bright was only given leave from Shrewsbury for three days. He had no option but to return to Shrewsbury training as directed by the club he is contracted to.

What I heard it still up to the next couple of weeks.

So far players seem to stick with the club. Obviously to bring on anyone they need to make place for them. But here is the point>

Originally at least 3-5 of them was set to leave during winter transfer window... that is like 10 days to go. Now it seems players easy on offers and wait on the club intentions whether to strengthen the squad. Strangely it sounds players even turning down offers from other clubs.
They all want to play CUP games instead of making money somewhere in Austria etc.

DVSC only 2 points behind Videoton and in the semi final of the CUP. It is a strong belief that DVSC have a real shot for next cup season to qualify at least Euro League. That looks a big carrot so far.

Does anyone, even you Chris if you read about yourself in this forum, know if he's landed a contract anywhere yet.  I think NZ really needs him fit as he is better then most of the other squad players NZ has available (outside of the obvious starting 11) for SA this year.

the AWs WIkipedia page is very up to date, so Tbilisi could well be true. James doesnt seem shy about playing in some unlikely places. Looks like they are a decent side. Historically Georgia's strongest and made it to qualifying stage of Europa League this season - but knocked out home and away on goal diff by Red Star Belgrade

actually, on closer inspection there are some mistakes and errors on that AW wiki page, so who knows

Webster playing conference or below and occassionally Finland.

James made himsefl unavailable for U-20's and Olympics, then found himself unemployed.   Also rumours he turned up over-weight, unfit and with a sh*t attitude for his last call-up.

Rumour and conjecture but pretty reliable sources.  Needs to come home to the Phoenix and rebuild his career.
