I don't think there's been a mention of it anywhere else but thought we needed a thread.

Despite the astronomical proportions of said transfer it feels like it's actually going to happen... Yarns that the Qatari government will sign him as an ambassador to skimp around FFP.

What a world we live in.

Only for small teams like Blackburn Rovers

The rumoured 160m for Mbappe to Real is also batshark. At least Neymar is an established player who has proven he can have a sustained impact at an elite club. Mbappe is 18 and has one good season behind him.

That's a different set of rules administered by the Football League though, it's separate to UEFA's FFP

Yup! In the French League no less...

The clubs must be paying some massive insurance premiums these days.

Aaaaaand now Barcelona have confirmed that he was excused from training today - looks like the only hurdle will now be La Liga and FFP...

A few million from Qatar to the right hands will see to that - they're quite good at that sort of thing.

Taken from Twitter, not sure if entirely accurate, but pretty shocking if true;

Qatar Sports Investment will pay Neymar 300m euros to be an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup. Contract will be signed in Qatar, so there will be 0% tax.

Neymar will pay 222m euros to Barcelona to be released from his contract, and PSG will sign him for free.

78m euros will remain for Neymar's cut and PSG will pay him 30m euros per year, plus bonuses, on a 6 year deal.

Very well played if that's the arrangement. If the only thing to come out of this is to show how ridiculous the financial backing of some clubs is, then I don't mind. Related parties funding / transactions is a bit of a joke really. Ultimately it is unsustainable.

LOL...the Spanish football authorities have done a big sulk. Today when PSG's lawyers turned up in Spain to pay the 222 euros the SFA refused to accept the money. But there is nothing they can do...its legally binding

Perhaps Barcelona should have asked why Neymar was happy to leave in the first place.....OK he gets a bigger wage but I suspect Neymar was sick of living in Messi's shadow. Neymar almost single handedly won the amazing 6-1 Barca win over PSG last season but Messi got most of the publicity

Big big publicity boost for PSG. Neymar has something like 80 million social media followers. They will get back a fortune from Neymar's global image. The other thing too is PSG is the only pro football club in Paris, a big rich global city(unlike London where there are dozens of pro clubs fighting for  marketing space) The skies the limit for marketing Neymar.

On the footballing side Ligue1 is decidedly more physically robust than in Spain.....I can see some gnarly defenders from the likes of Marseille licking their lips at the propect of pretty Paris rich boy coming to their town
