China should be pretty happy with Group A although Jordan looks to be pretty handy and S'pore is always a hard place to get points.

A new coach will be rolled out soon as GA0 Hongbo has had his last match.  Seems he is a good man manager but weak on tactics.  Let's hope the new manager can do both.

A good punt in AFF (http://www.asianfootballfeast.com/2011/08/01/the-road-to-brazil/) - has Group C as being the hardest.
So would expect to see all top seeds through to the next round (2 groups of 5).

Australia and Saudi Arabia should get through from that group pretty comfortably.

Oman is more likely to upset someone, Thailand is not really all that competetive at this level.

Agreed Aussie should be comfortable. Saudi were awful at the Asian Cup, and both Oman & Thailand will like their chances. Thailand are really struggling for goals at the moment though. I'll tip Saudi or Oman for 2nd, with Thailand to cause enough problems for other teams to give themselves some hope.

Australia v Thailand tonight from Brisbane. If Oz can't win by 4, then they are going to struggle.

I hope Thailand can at least score a goal. Another un-noticed elbow to the face of Kruse would go down well also!

Not that I particularly want Oz to lose but the arrogance of Harper and co in assuming that all they have do do walk out on the park to collect an easy 3 points is a bit sickening.

They need to take Jesus off and start playing some proper football.

You're right, they seem to be not really sure whats going on to be honest.. Like what one of the commentators said, they keep just lobbing the ball deep into the box, bit boring.Azevo2011-09-02 22:44:43

Is a pity for Thailand, Australia are in need of improvement after this, if that was Saudi Arabia, I don't think that current standard would of feared well.

switched over to watch Japan v North Korea now, Japan are totally dominating in possession, yet to score though, man chances though.Azevo2011-09-02 23:58:36

Results on soccerway

China conceding a soft goal thanks to Li Weifeng to go 0-1 down in the first half, came back strongly against S'pore. Missed the 2nd half but they finished 2-1 after missing a penalty, scoring from the 2nd and having another turned down.

Where did you get your crystall ball from? China DID struggle, only a dodgy ref won it for them. Can you also apply your crystal ball to Nix signings?

Crystal ball - made in China! I saw the first half and highlights of the 2nd half. S'pore weren't dangerous except for part of the first half. China created it's own problems with some poor finishing and also some poor luck (hit the woodwork twice).

The penalty that gave them the equaliser was soft - but then they had another clear cut penalty turned down later.

Why did I think they would struggle? Camacho replaced Ga0 as coach and brought in a few old heads - but then there was some tension around who would captain the team (Li Weifeng or Du Wei). Also his translator was quite poor. Not impressed with the new coach so far.

However China have a difficult away game to Jordan in a few days time so maybe Camacho was resting some of the more exciting players (Hao Junmin, Feng Renliang) . I think a point from that game will be a good result.

As for the Nix - Grandadi is the crystal ball for this - I could only muster a small marble in that respect.

Have to say that what we have at the moment is not great, but maybe Junior has a different opinion.

If you mean the Nix I will revert to the words of a wise man "Most people who pull on a Phoenix strip are going to get the love from Phoenix fans,"

Just looking forward to 9 Oct and then going "fook*ng mental" on 16 Oct.

No, it really is a pity. Thailand getting a result out of that would have been awesome.
