I got the email the other day, I worked the Womens U-17 tournament as a VIP driver and it was awesome. So hoping for the same job again

Got to the games as well. That was the cool thing, I drove them around Wellington and got from airports (was based at Intercontinental) but also drove them to Westpac and stayed. Watched the games then drove them back to the hotel or next function. I loved it. Got to see the NZ girls win.

But did you get invited to after match parties?

No unfortunatly, did get meals etc and I got to go into corporate box for one game. But to be honest I preferred the volunteer area that is that walkway just by where Yellow Fever sits. Much more fun to be out in the stadium.

Yeah ive never been a fan of corporate boxes, or the Deloitte's lounge. I often turn down tickets to these in favour of regular seating.

Definitely applying to volunteer for this. I did so for the Women's U-17 tournament back in 2008 and it was by far the best job i have ever had.

I've only been once but they seem more fun for the eggball, where the alternative is freezing your ass off in the middle of a still, silent crowd. The lounge has nothing on the fever zone experience, even when the zone is having an off day.

Anyone got a phone number for the volunteer office?  Have found their communication appaulling.  Sent a few emails over the last 3 weeks and had no response.  And yes I did have the correct email address.

Pretty shit considering I'm offering my time.  Surely they'd be desperate for people

Hello guys, are there any team liaison officers out there?  I've been asked if I'm interested to liaise with the Qatar team here in Hamilton and I'm wondering if I accept what I will be in for...I've looked at the 'job description' and it looks full on.

Yea, but just seeing anyone else got some 'independent' stories about what they did. I have since found some blogs online from people who have been TLOs in the past

How was it being a driver? Who do you drive and do you use one of the events cars?
