There has been champions league. This time of the year there is a lot of playoffs in American sports, maybe that isn't helping?

Sky have said that ESPN didn't secure the rights for La Liga nor Europa League.  Pretty shite.  Think the odd MLS game is on, but the season will be over soon.

World Cup qualifying is on, Spain against France is on tomorrow morning.

Funnily enough, ESPN in the UK has rights for La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A.

I have been disappointed at the lack of coverage of Champions League and La Ligua to.  Does anyone know of a reliable site watch these games online?  I don't mind paying. I seem to find the odd site but either the feed is choppy and/or the commentary is not in English.

Hmm, there's been quite extensive coverage of the Champions League so far - there were 5 back-to-back games on the last matchday last week, two of those were live, plus they get replayed over the following few days, and there's also the Champions League weekly with highlights of the games and interviews.
La Liga I understand is on ESPN2 which we don't get here.

Its good to see that theyve brought back the FA cup, watched Plymouth Argyle the other day haha. What this means though is that we wont have to rely on Sky deciding last minute if theyre going to show the final or not.

If you're up early on Friday at 6:30am you can watch a programme called Football's Managers. The episode features Mario Zagallo.

As well as 500 Goals and I scored a Goal [at the FIFA World Cup final]

Pretty disgusting. The world's most popular sport and we only get to watch one league. La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga....you'd think we'd at least get one of them. To think that the best player perhaps to ever play the game is currently playing at a tiny team called Barcelona and we get to watch him a dozen times a season at most. Disgraceful really.

It's ESPN. They call it 'soccer' - you expected more?

To be fair, it's not really ESPN - they have a lot of football coverage around the world. I suspect the lack of coverage this season is reflective of the NZ market's appetite for that coverage.

Well the market's appetite is reflective of the media in this country downplaying the relevance of football which isn't played in England. When they show highlights of West Ham vs Stoke rather than the Super Clasico etc it's going to influence people into thinking that football in other European countries doesn't matter which is just sad.

Yeah the problems Sky, until they start offering ESPN 2 we're going to keep missing out on football. Isnt there also an ESPN 3 now as well?

If you have Sky Sport, you can get access to ESPN3.com. Not sure what they show, but I would guess it's mostly US based.

They usually show whatever football they are showing on ESPN or ESPN2 on ESPN3.com, which usually includes MLS and international friendlies. They also have Champions League highlights shows On Demand, but I'm not sure if they stream them live as well.

We also get 23 EPL games a year too.  (Not sure if it had been mentioned). Although IMHO the coverage isn't as good as SKY's.
