This weekend is the game which means the most for Atletico- a chance for the team of the city to get one over the team of the world.

The galaticos visit the Calderon without Ronaldo and form a little bit up and down. Meanwhile, los indios come into the game in terrible form; lying in the relegation zone (much to the amusement of the Madridistas) and having recently replaced their manager. However, despite a 1-0 defeat to Bilbao and an early exit from the Champions League, Ateltico's recent performances have been much improved.

With a brace for Kun midweek against a team who have been sniffing around for his signature recently, he promptly commented about how much he respected Chelsea. He also added: "I want to fight with Atletico to the death. I almost feel like I was born here. It's a club that has given me a lot, pleasure as well as pain, but it's a place I feel very happy." Long may that attitude continue, although it is difficult to see him staying around for too much longer.

This should prove an interesting game and Atletico's record at home is only marginally better than their (terrible) away record against Real. Who could forget the 1-2 defeat last season- with Madrid scoring in the 95th minute to win it, despite Simao having levelled only minutes earlier...

Vamos Atletico!

I'm sure it will be. They tend to televise all of the Real games. Plus its the biggest game of the round/season!  I would encourage everyone to watch it.

Gah. Terrible stuff and painful viewing. Ifill was the only one who made me smile after yesterday's result. We went over to some of my mum's friends' place to watch the game live on the internet. Bascially the derby is the only day that I'm allowed to get drunk and swear in front of my mum, haha. And a lot of swearing there was too, when Real were up 0-3. When a late combeack almost saved Perea's blushes after Ramos was sent off (cheating Madridista...the only way he could stop Kun) and Forlan and Kun netted afterwards, a fantastic draw seemed on the cards as we attacked and attacked. Only Casillas saved them; so often the case. But as it was, we went home depressed at the terrible defensive woes that continue and, in a strange way, proud that there was a fight. Mind you, Real haven't lost in ten years at the Vicente Calderon, so our derby record isn't great.

Oh, and another of my heroes makes Pepe look like a klutz. Forlan's goal was wonderful, just vintage football. And Kun's goal was, well, Kun. Although I think he should have started! He's the most dangerous player we have bar none. He caused them problems, problems, problems. He was so unlucky not to get an equaliser too, in the minute. Although we didn't deserve to win, Real were very lucky. I thought the disallowed goal was harsh. Maybe offside, although I reckon he was level.

And whoever threw the stone, good job. Should have broken the Madridista's jaw.
