I can't believe England persists with Calamity James. He should have gotten about 3 caps - the number of games when he played well. Robinson is out of form.

Your football knowledge is yet again purely crap, your just embarrassing yourself now.

In addition to Robinson and James there are still the likes of Foster and Carson coming through the ranks.

Im so embarrassed.  thank you slater for pointing out your superior football knowledge.

what have you been on the fcuking moon or something???????  where were you when robinson embarrassed himself, the spuds and england? calamity james????  hahaha your having a fcukin bubble mate!!! short ball stopper yes. BUT if he has to think about it. ARGH NO.

the boys Foster and carson maybe for the future. carson esp. the only reason green missed the world cup was a groin injury which in turn carson took his place. but im sure your football knowledge already knew that.

green will be back. and to write him off as NO 1. is just a complete embarrassement to yourself.

*takes deep breath, prepares for bashing based on opinion...*
Robinson has always been a fair to middling keeper who has made himself No.1 on the basis of there being no-one better.  He is simply anohter player the English media has built up as world class before ripping the piss out of for average performances.

As a Hammer, my bias does lean towards Green, but he is still fairly young in goalkeeping terms anyway, and has shown himself AT THE VERY LEAST the equal of Robinson.

Have to agree on the young guys mentioned though, they are very impressive, just hope they don't become the new Chris Kirkland...

three losses in a row now and even more injuries. Things arent looking so good now. I would 've thought with all that possion and territory West Ham should have scored at least a equaliser against a young Aston Villa team this morning.

OUR INJURED XI. I heard the commentators mention Villa only have 22 players on their books. They would be pulling them out of the crowd if they had this lot.

Anton Ferdinand (hamstring): The defender pulled his hamstring during the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal last weekend. He is expected to be back for the Sunderland game.

Nobby Solano (fitness): The transfer deadline signing is yet to feature for his new club due to a lack of fitness. Should be ready for consideration in time for the Sunderland game.

Calum Davenport (ankle): Centre-half Davenport has suffered several niggles since rejoining the Hammers in January, although is recovering well from his latest knock. Set to return within a fortnight.

Craig Bellamy (groin): The Welsh striker is expected back in action within a fortnight after undergoing a hernia op in Munich last week.

Bobby Zamora (knee): The striker underwent an operation to correct a knee problem at the end of September and is expected to be ready for selection again by the end of the month.

Scott Parker (knee): Midfield general Parker suffered a recurrence of the knee problem which had kept him out of United's opening games during last week's defeat against Arsenal - his league debut for the Hammers. Likely to be out until the end of October.

Henri Camara (hamstring): The third Hammer to suffer a tear in recent games, Camara is likely to miss the rest of October.

Dean Ashton (knee): Ashton is said to have suffered medial knee ligament damage which could keep him out until December, at worst - although a four-week lay-off is average for such injuries. Likely to miss the next two games against Sunderland and Portsmouth.

Nigel Quashie (ankle): Quashie, signed from West Brom in January has been out of action since last season with a problematic ankle. Whilst he is currently in recovery no date has been set for his return.

Julien Faubert (achilles): Just weeks after joining the Hammers in a 6.1m deal French international Faubert tore his achilles during a pre-season game in Austria. He is not expected to play until the new year.

Kieron Dyer (fracture): The 7m summer signing suffered a double fracture to his right leg in the 2-1 Carling Cup win at Bristol Rovers in August. Unlikely to be playing until early February.

Eight of the 11 injured players have been signed by Alan Curbishley since last January.

Yeah, I've just become a Squad Player. Hammers havent got a bad team going here. probably less injuries amongst us because we dont run and tackle, just talk our way through the game.

Jesus, I didn't know about Ashton until just now.

Am i right that Harewood is only on loan at Villa and it becomes permanent next year? Wonder if there is a clause that could bring him back. At least we know he can score goals unlike Mssr Cole.

Hogan Ephraim was due to return from loan to QPR this week and they just extended for one month.
Kyle Reid and him are the youth strikers coming through. Time to give them a crack.
Bellamey must be close. Harwood was a full transfer. 5 Milion. Not a loan.

Looks like we may have to off load some of our youngsters.
With Etherington and Boa Morte showing form and Kyel Reid and Hogan Ephiram performing well, that gives us four left sided midfield players. Even with our history of injuries, that is probably going to be a bit of a luxury, unless they can be used in other areas.

Hopefully we will see some of our injured players returnoing to give us a good run into the Christmas period.
Personally I am happy that the "reserve players" have been able to keep us in the top 10. If the injured return and play to their potential, a top 6 spot is well within our grasp.

Agree the "B" team has done very well. A draw at Pompey felt like a win but the draw at bolton felt like a loss!! I would be very surprised if Hogan Ephiram makes the team. Barnes didnt look to flash against us the other week. But he would make a good addition to the squad.

We got some big games coming up, spuds, chavs and blackburn. Would be nice to have some first team players fit.

If we are to sign players in January, and the rumours are flying again, it needs to be to improve and strengthen, not to add to depth. Fullbacks are the only area we need more depth. accepting that there are always going to be injuries and that currently we have got the worst case scenario. This squad is strong for a mid table finish. It is not strong enough to regularly compete in top 4.
eg
GK  Green, Wright, Walker
FB  Neill,  McCartney, Spector, Paintsil
CB  Gabbidon, Upson, Ferdinand, Collins, Davenport
LM  Etherington, Boa Morte, Reid, Ephiram
RM  Faubert, Ljungberg, Solano
CM  Noble, Parker, Dyer, Bowyer, Mullins
S    Bellamy, Ashton, Cole, Zamora
Other   Quashie, Camara

According to the Daily Mail

West Ham defender George McCartney is set to be fit for Sunday's derby with Tottenham after making good progress in his recovery from an ankle injury he picked up in the 5-0 win at Derby and ruled him out of the Northern Ireland squad.

Superb.

A quick way to get West Ham news without having to troll through about 10 websites is to go to www.newsnow.co.uk.
Get into the football section then enter Westham (one word) into the search. Save that as a favourite and it will give you a quick way of getting WHU News from several sites. Auot update too.
No guarantee on accuracy and plenty of repartition and rumours, but then it comes down to whether you "believe it or not".

AH! But it does stimulate conversation beyond some English Journo who is only doing it for a job and not for the passion of the team!!

I wonder if Anton Ferdinand will be allowed in NZ if West Ham decide to tour. A headline must be coming up on his future shortly.

Hello Dave 57. Welcome to the West Ham thread.
Spurs patches of form dont usually extend very long these days.

But just to show you that I am not completely biased, I would have to say that Berbatov had to be the best signing in EPL last year. All players go through bad patches, (and injuries), but that guy is class.

Have the team booked into  Marriotts for a quick Pasta this wekend?  Make you sick, wouldnt it.
