I always prefer to watch football live, so with the return of the premiership I have gone back to sleeping on the couch on Saturday and Sunday nights.  This weekend, I did the following:

Saturday night

  • watched the first half of the Sunderland vs Spuds game.  Fell asleep at the start of the second half
  • woke up again and watched about 20 minutes of the first half of the Bolton vs Noocastle game.  Fell asleep again
  • woke up and watched the last 10 minutes of the Villa vs Pool game (and the goals from all the Saturday games that was on after it).

Sunday night

  • watched the first half of the Chelscum vs Birmingham game.  Fell asleep at half time
  • woke up and watched about 30 seconds of the first half of the ManUre Vs Reading game.  Fell asleep for the rest of the night.

Anyone else manage to see more/sleep less during the weekend?

I am never in the dog box - perfect husband me.

I actually got quite used to sleeping on the couch after doing it for a month during the world cup - I have quite the little set up there now.

Its alot harder to stay awake when all you have is streamed audio. I fell asleep with 10 minutes to go during the Arsenal V Fulham game. Damn my comfy sofa to heck. At least I start work at 6:30 am so listening to midweek games is alot easier. People tend to notice if I fall asleep at my desk.

Very true, the World cup was a rought time sleep wise.

On Saturday night I got home and watched about 36 seconds of the Villa vs Pool game before passing out on the couch and leaving my two minute noodles sitting in the microwave.

Thankfully there was various replays in the morning.

So you stayed up two nights and still didn't manage to see a full game?

Being a shift worker I don't always get the luxury of watching games live, but if I have the weekend off I tend to watch the late kick off live and then watch a replay of the earlier games after that.

it's not too bad waiting for the replays as NZ  being a 'soccer unaware' country there's very little chance of hearing the scores via TV, radio or general banter at work - was certainly true during the World Cup anyway.

Having said that, I watrched a  live game at the Stadium on Friday night, the L'pool game live on Saturday night, a full replay on Sunday afternoon and then highlights on Monday night.

So, not bad availability for a 'soccer unaware' country.

yeah -  I suck.

I am quite happy to fall asleep in games that I don't really care about (which is basically all games that West Ham are not playing in).

I attempted to watch 5 games at once (they play 5 games here and you choose one) and watched the Sunderland game + Man Yoo. They didn't show Arsenal :/

My Sky has changed my football viewing forever.

Just have to avoid the media until I have seen all the games.
