Devlin just blurted in passing that Sky and Bein have done a deal - Sky will have two football channels; one premier league, the other showing other euro leagues... didn't elaborate - perhaps busted the embargo.

As much as I hate Skodafone, I hope it's true.

Hope all games are live but can't see that being the case.

Me too - there's absolutely no reason they shouldn't be. They have the infrastructure, just a matter of investing in the bandwidth to do it, as Foxtel have been doing for several years on the same delivery platform (using the magic "red" button... oh the irony lol).

...and as all football knowledge in NZ seemed to start in 2010, they will basically play MUFC, CFC and MCFC games live and the rest suffer.

If true I expect the new channels would cost more rather than be included with sport.

Mixed news for me personally... great that someone will show it, and I can at least drop one bill, even if it's not the one that's the worst bang for your buck (sky), also great if there's a dedicated channel, but now we won't have all games available live, and if they do charge extra for these channels then that'd be an absolute shocker, given the huge amounts I already pay just to get the bloody box in my tv cabinet in the first place.

First reaction was of happiness that at least someone will screen it legally in NZ, and then despair at the realisation that I will not be getting rid of Sky for at least another year :(

Key questions (and anticipated answers):

1) Will it be more expensive than PLP? Most likely.

2) Will it be live & on demand? Their web based platform doesn't seem to be able to handle this.

3) Will our money be going to an organisation who at their very core is rotten? Yes.

Dam, I was dreading (but expecting) that news..

I really hope they offer an online gateway to access it, tho i would have thought Euro 2016 would have been a perfect test bed for it, but alas not even on FanPass...

Sky showed one game a week last season, so they'll probably do so again. They usually showed the Friday game (very early Saturday for us).

Tim Martin announcing something on Devlin's show this morning... not sure what but the inference from Doull was moving toward an online offering for whatever sport you want. How far and in what direction I guess we'll wait and see.

How awesome it would be if you could get EPL either via Sky or PLP/LBS... that would be the ultimate - everyone's a winner!

I think best to wait and see what kind of package comes out for the EPL.  They have been putting a lot of work into this so would expect some improvements.

I'm hoping we get the "red button" user chooser the same as Foxtel had five years ago.

I'm hoping me mum doesn't cancel her sky membership and that it's available on skygo / in the standard sports package, or I too will be viewing via alternate means.

I believe this wasn't possible before because of something to do with limited bandwidth... No idea if that has changed.

Guessing red button still doesn't allow you to record more than one at a time?

With a VPN providing an Indian IP address, you can watch all EPL matches live and on demand for free on Star Sports website.

Star Sports are the official EPL rights holders for India and broadcasts all EPL matches live online and has all matches on demand.

Yes, in India, you can watch all Premier League games legally for free online. I've watched football on TV and online in India - it's great.

But you can access Star Sports in NZ or other countries by using a paid or free VPN service which allocates you an IP address in India as you need it (turn it on and off).

The good news is that they've just renewed their rights for the next three EPL and Bundesliga seasons:

http://www.newsvoir.com/release/star-india-renews-...

"Star India Renews Broadcast Rights for Premier League"

Star India has renewed its exclusive broadcast rights for the English Premier League for the next three seasons from 2016-17 to 2018-19

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

To telecast LIVE action from English Premier League for next 3 seasons.

Along with the Indian Super League and Bundesliga, Star Sports and Hotstar remain the premier destinations for global and Indian football.

Star India has renewed its exclusive broadcast rights for the English Premier League for the next three seasons from 2016-17 to 2018-19. With this renewal, Star India will continue to broadcast Premier League matches on a live or delayed basis across India on the Star Sports channels, as well as stream all matches on its digital platforms, Hotstar and starsports.com.

The Premier League is the most-watched football league in the world, broadcast in 185 countries territories to 730 million homes.

The renewal reinforces Star Sports’ and Hotstar’s presence as the premier destination for football in India, with the best of global and Indian football action. Star India will broadcast more than 200 Premier League games LIVE across its Star Sports TV network, and all the 380 games LIVE on its digital platforms, Hotstar and starsports.com.

Introduction on watching EPL via Star Sports:

http://www.watchpremierleague.org/

"The Cheapest Way to Watch Premier League Online"

The cheapest way to watch Premier League online is by using a VPN service. This service will make it possible for you to watch Premier League on the Indian TV channel Starsports. They broadcast all the Premier League matches online for free, so all you need a subscription to a VPN which will give you an Indian IP address for this to work. In addition you can also watch all German Bundesliga matches online using this solution.

VPN services which can give you Indian IP addresses:

This service seems to be the cheapest and says it unblocks Star Sport:

Was just wondering if they will put the HAL behind another paywall or not focus on it at all if they are investing so much into overseas comps.

Bein Sports Premier League coverage will be available online similar to Premier League Pass according to Richard Last from SKY TV on Tony Veitches show.

Premier League on SKY will be via a Premier League specific channel (extra cost like the Rugby Channel).  Will be a 24 hour channel carrying all sorts of shows + live games.
