good game - early goal (40 odd seconds) from the big centre back from a great free kick by Richard (Andy) Garcia and then a second from Campbell which seemed a bit poxy, although I will give him the benefit of the doubt.  Sending off seemed a bit harsh, although I didn't see it clearly.  Forlan then scored with about 10 or 15 to go, although Hull would have got a pen if he missed as he was fouled just prior to shooting.

Overall, Hull a lot better than a very poor Watford.

My thoughts were that Hull are a decent enough side, who stick to a pretty basic gameplan.  Defenders do the basics - win the ball and get rid of it - while the midfield work hard although their passing was pretty poor for the most part.  Campbell has blistering pace, so as soon as anyone in a yellow (orange???) shirt gets the ball, they put it in behind the defenders for him to run onto.   His alround play is not too bad, although he has to get better at holding the ball up.

23,000 odd was a good crowd as well.

We don't have a game until 12th April against QPR followed by Yorkshire Derby's against Barnsley and Sheffield United. These three games will determine our fate. West Brom have a tough game against Cardiff tomorrow night and could so easily slip up (I hope).

the Barnsley game will be televised and if they make the FA cup final they'll be cock-a-hoop, and another Yorkshire Derby v Sheff U will make for two tough matches

hopefully QPR will be outside playoff contention when we meet them

Palace might still have something to play for, but we should be to strong for them at the KC

I imagine Ipswich away on the last day might have some bearing on both teams' seasons

the fact that Bristol  and Stoke play each other should be good for us!

watched the highlights that I recorded yesterday - Campbell deserved a bit more credit than I originally gave him for his goal, doing well to deflect the shot in.  The sending off was harsh, although by that time the game was well away from Watford.

On another note, Uriah Rennie is a garbage ref.  He gave a number of ludicrous decisions throughout the match, none more so than we booked the Hull keeper.  A defender made a great tackle and the ball ran out for a goal kick.  While the ball was being received by the ball boy, the keeper ran to the edge of the box to pat his defender on the back of the head, and was running back when Rennie booked him for time-wasting.  Bear in mind this was when it was 3-0, Watford were down to 10 men and there was about 10 minutes to go.....

Sensational report on Hull City Online site that Phil Brown secured the signature of Juventus under 19 international Gianluca Forllapio currently on loan at Brescia where he has scored 26 goals in 17 starts. Apparently there were a few Premier League, Serie A and La Liga Clubs after the very pacy, natural scorer but Phil was in the right place at the right time as Gianluca had fallen out with Juventus Management and signed on a free making him available to play immediately.
Jubilation on all Hull City sites - until someone picked up that Forllapio is an anagram of "April Fool"!

yeh Hessnetahler was the one i was on about (from Gillingham i think)

re that april fools' thing  - yeh it got a bit of interest but most folks are a bit more sceptical today than they might usually be

hopefully the warm weather break will do the lads good (Portugal, from memory)

lets hope barnsley get distracted by either a cup loss with a few injuries/suspensions or a cup win with a similar amount of player unavailability

West Brom in a scoreless draw against Cardiff so we are still 3rd but Brom have another game in hand. With an FA Cup Semi-Final this weekend though the pressure would have to be on them as well as Barnsley who we have to play yet. This has been a great season for the CCC and it's not over yet.

possibly a shame that WBA don't have the cup to distract them, but the loss might prevent an increase in their morale

I would expect the following from the mid-week matches effecting us:

Stoke 3 Crystal Palace 1
Blackpool 0 West Brom 2
Sheff Utd 2 Sheff Wed 1
Ipswich 1 Charlton 0
Watford 2 Barnsley 1
I do hope I am wrong but the way I see it Stoke will win the CCC from West Brom leaving us to fight it out with Bristol City, Watford and Ipswich (at the expense of Wolves).
It will depend on West Brom who could well slip up whilst our 'on-a-roll' run (hopefully) continues.

it seems a pretty volatile division, so scores seem hard to predict (e.g Col U beatin Ipswich)

your predictions seem logical but you never know!

in an ideal world WBA will be flat after their exit and Barnsley will be determined to make amends

perhaps Palace will nick a point at Stoke

one point off automatic is more than i would have believed possible following the last two seasons so i suppose i be able to accept play-offs as a good outcome - but imagine going up from top 2

Edit - YES - Palace nabbed all 3 points at Stoke! (2-1)

now two points off top spot with a game in hand (as long as West Brom slip up!)

It's awesome alright but we must appreciate that we are where we are with an awful lot of luck. The new owners decided to consolidate this year with a 'mid-table' position being the target. Our 'million pound' signing Caleb Folan appears to have been born injured. We have been led by what has been described by other CCC Clubs as a ' fat, snail-paced, old, potato-headed, has-been' (Dean Windass) but who has managed to contribute his fair share of goals. Richard Garcia has suffered illness and bereavement in his family resulting in visits back to Australia which must have affected his game let alone his personal life yet he has performed exceptionally well. The loan-in of Frazier Campbell has been a touch of genius and inspiration for the side. Couple this with the fact that our rivals are starting to feel the strain and are dropping points they never should, and the 'fairy-tale' ending to the quest for the 'promised land' is within sight.
Will we too feel the strain?
We meet your beloved QPR next and this will decide if we continue onwards and upwards.

cheers OpreW and LG,

liked your  "born injured' comment OTiger (sad but true)

Toffeeman when are you back??

Barnsley beat Watford 3-0 overnight at theirs, so that'll help

Windass has been an excellent signing -primarily for the hardness he's brought to the club (i remember years of  "Windass to sign this Friday " threads on the City Online site  )

As you said OT the signing of Campbell has been inspired (shame it's only on loan)

some great squad building over summer has added depth all over the park

our only real worry at the moment is at CB with Brown (ex Col U hero) injured and Clement hauled back from loan by WBA (hopefully letting Delaney go won't prove too costly - he was at least competent)

btw - just downloaded a brilliant podcast of an interview with Ian McKechnie of the KCFM site, about tot listen to one interview with Okocha off the same site

Barnsley won today 3-0 at Twatford and Col U are down barring Wednesday lossing the rest of their games 4-0! Sorry to beak the bad news.

But next season I'll keep an eye out for Col U. If ever a team needed a decent break after being ripped apart on and off the field! I wish it had happened to Cardiff and that racist owner of theirs!

City drew 1-1 with QPR, got the equaliser on  90 mins (Turner)

WBA v Watford,  and Bristol v Wolves both draws as well so that helps, still in our hands re top 2, but three points would really have helped!!

1 win away from top spot.

There's been about 20 games this season where QPR have either drawn or lost it in the last few minutes or in injury time. Sounds like the Nix.

Honours shared.

It seems they save their best performances of the season for when I am watching, so it might be worth Tigers et al chipping in and buying me a season ticket, travel tickets, etc for next season.

I hear Brown and Turner are both doubtful for the trip to Bramhall Lane

huge game - but then they all are at the moment

a totally unjust, scrappy 1-0 win would be fine by me , as would handing them a 3-0 footballing lesson

0-0 stoke v bristol would be good, if either has to win then i'd go for Bristol as they have more  chance of dropping points in the last to games (in theory)

Toffeeman and Frankie - either of you going?? (I'm guessing not - but hey worth a try )
