Agreed. I've always found it puzzling/stupid how Middlesbrough fans call themselves Boro. One of the two makes no sense.

I reckon Arsenal are a dark horse this year. Everyone spending around them with all the pressure heaping on. I could see Arsenal just sneaking in last minute.

Unlikely. Arsenal always choke sooner or later. Giroud isn't that good; he can't bang in 20 a season and his hold up play isn't that great. So they're severely lacking upfront with no other strikers apart from him.

They're lacking depth relative to the other top contenders.

Yeah, even as an Arsenal fan - we haven't learnt our lessons.

Paralysed in the transfer market. Bad injuries before the season start. I'd be shocked if we got anywhere close.

Great quote in there Leggy, regarding transfer fees, which I completely agree with;

"One wish for the new season?

That price tags aren’t endlessly debated all season. The Premier League ate itself long ago, this summer has just heightened that with the new TV deal, and players - from Paul Pogba to Yannick Bolasie to Andre Ayew - are worth what buyers are willing to pay"

That so makes sense, especially when you consider the article you also posted about Pogba's fee, and the justification for it - it is justified, because it's commercially viable for ManU.

It's almost like the success of the player on the pitch is a completely different thing now, almost unrelated to the price.

That also ties in with what Wenger said about the Pogba purchase. Despite the press claiming he said it was "crazy" and then baiting Mourinho over it to have a stab back at Wenger, what he actually said was very sensible;

'It is completely crazy if you cannot afford to pay it. If you can afford to pay it you can justify it.'

Of course the press only took the first 4 words of that, and reported en masse, and then obviously asked Jose about it to stir the rivalry up once again.

33 BBC pundits... and ZERO predicting Arsenal to win it. LOL. Good shark. Arsenal have no chance this year. In fact if I was an Arsenal fan I'd be wondering if they can make Champions League this year.

Got less confidence about this season than I've ever had, but if there's one thing Wenger knows its how to make CL. It's our everything and we'll do just enough to make as always. It looked more comfortable than usual last season because the other traditional rivals imploded and had disastrous seasons. But every season everyone predicts us to fall out of the top 4 yet we're still the only team that hasn't.

Anyway can't be bothered predicting the full 20 but I'll do top 6 and bottom 3.

Top 6: Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool

Bottom 3: Crystal Palace, Burnley, Hull

Except this season those squads actually have some quality (Zlatan, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Kante, Man City have a deadly attack all round, + each teams' previous players, etc.)... and again this season they actually have quality managers too in comparison to the ones last season.

No way Wenger can get away with no proper signings again apart from Xhaka. Xhaka isn't exactly 100% top quality either, he's great for a team like Arsenal but not good enough to be a starter in a Champions League-winning squad. Wenger always loses to Mourinho, not sure how he can fix that this season when he has a worse squad (again). This is Wenger's last year or two. He's good for a team like Arsenal but hasn't been at his best for many years now.

Also, "That's what everyone thought last season too", not exactly something to be proud about considering Arsenal didn't have the quality to defeat Leicester. No. I am not discounting the quality and astonishment of their PL-winning campaign, but just saying that the Man U of the past under Fergie would've easily won the league last season.

Ah, fair enough. Well in addition to what I said I believe this Tottenham side is pretty damn good, and I reckon they can keep that up. But then again relying on Spurs to maintain their quality is probably naive of me.

We did indeed have the quality to beat Leicester - twice. The only team that did that. We just didn't have the consistency they had over the entire season, and neither did anyone else

We all say with hindsight that the league was weak last season, but funnily enough we didn't think that before it started.

Lets not forget that Chelsea at the start of it, were champions, had Mourinho supposedly at the top of his game, and had what everyone agreed was a pretty complete squad - world class players right through the spine, plenty of depth, they were hot favourites to repeat.

They got 10th.

Man City were next favourites.

Those teams weren't weak, they were just shown up in a league where you can't be off your game for even a second. There aint no 6 nils against the bottom teams any longer. It's about consistency right through.

Your last point about Fergie is probably true, but how does that support your argument in any way? No one has the record he had in this league, but no one has to compete with him now either.

Every year the environment is different, teams are stronger or weaker, there are new scenarios, old scenarios, and yet everyone always says this.

And they're always wrong.
