i'll be up. i'm not a big McClaren fan but don't expect us to get beat 3-0.  hard to predict though with so many players unavailable - gerrard, hargreaves, etc.  who'll be in the middle? come to think of it, who'll be up front - no rooney or johnson... Will crouch play? owen? beckham has aparently flown over for it. (i expect that didn't cost the F.A. a $1m!)

here's a couple of quotes relating to the game

'England don't play friendlies. There will be 90,000 people at Wembley tomorrow and another eight million watching on TV; that is some friendly.

After suffering some of the most sustained abuse ever directed at an England coach during the scrappy win over Andorra in March, followed by widespread calls for his dismissal, McClaren could be forgiven for shuffling rather uncomfortably in his seat ahead of the friendly with Germany - the first time the sides have met at Wembley since Kevin Keegan famously quit in 2000.

Huh what coverage is Sky getting? On SS1 but not on ESPN, hopefully it isn't ESPN coverage, 'cos ESPN video quality for Football is poor and so is the commentary.

Guess starting line up?
Thinking:
Robinson - Richards Ferdinand Terry Cole - Beckham Lampard Carrick Downing - Owen Crouch

I assume that is sarcasm WB ?   If not:

Terry, Ferdinand, Gerrard, Hargreaves, Crouch, A. Cole... Robinson is borderline

I'll give you Richards, Beckham, J. Cole and Rooney as not overrated.

Gerrard is no way overrated. Im a united supporter and i believe he is one of the best midfielders in the world easy. Richards is hardly rater highly so he cant be overrated. But i agree Ferdinand is definetely overrater. Ashley Cole is also. I like Joe Cole i thnk hes great and not overrater. Crouch is definetely. And Rooney no way hes a great player. Owen is overrated. Hes crap. Keeper should be David James.

Robinson = approx 5th best keeper in premiership (too drunk to actuallu figure out)

Terry = 2nd best defender at Chelsea (british press would have you believe the best in the world)
Fredinand = approx 10-15th best defender in the world

Lampard = stupidly over-rated
Gerrard = good premiership player, but no where near the class of players like Pirlo

Rooney = top 5 strikers in the world
Owen?  Crouch?  = enough said

England's spine probably has 2 players, maybe 3, who are in the top 5 for their position.  A lot of the others would struggle to make the top 10.  That makes quarter finals at world cups, and semis at Euro champs about their limit.

On a side note, I always support England (unless they play Wales) but can't while McLaren is in charge.  I will support Germany tomorrow, and every team they play until he is sacked.

I don't know who's gonna play up front for England.

Rooney's out
Crouch is suspended for the next game so they won't play him
Bent's out
AJ's out
Maybe start Owen up front by himself.
Who else is there?

I agree, if you mean Ricardo Carvalho being better than Terry, Lampard offers very little in open play, but at set pieces he's top class

Gerrard has always been heavily rated, he had a poor season last year but hes looking good this year, Pirlo is a completely different player to Gerrard, Pirlo is similar to Alonso or Carrick.

Crouch grabbed 18 goals last year (had one of the best goals to minutes ratios) and wasn't consistently playing.

I'm not a McLaren fan either, what did he do a Boro that was that good, 14th when he took over 14th when he left. Spent heaps had a good cup run (in UEFA cup and got dominated in final), but he did win the WORTHINGTON CUP. Big Sam should have been given the job.

Yeah England thought they had a crisis, not sure if all would've played but Klose, Podolski, Ballack, Schweinsteiger and Frings normally always start.

Looking back at that statement, I realise just how drunk I was - he wouldn't make the top 15 keepers in the premiership.

By who? Those of us who know they game, know how good England are and where they fit in the footballing scheme of things. So who is it that "overrates" them?
