Bournemouth in administration

Bournemouth are the latest club to go into administration with a serious possibility of total closure later this week. They have the same administrator that looks after Leeds. If you add the difficulties that Luton have things look dodgy for a number of established clubs.

Is this the result of Premier League and the dominance of TV etc?

Bournemouth's position was made worse by selling their ground to raise funds for transfers under poor directors. So, they had no revenue streams from conferences, weddings,fundraisers etc from use of the ground.

ColU turned in a $2.3 profit this year by good management, ethical fees policies and not spending stupid amounts on players transfers.

The so called trickle down effect from premier League just doesnt happen.

I lived in Bournemouth for about a year, and NO ONE gave a sh*t about the Cherries. To be honest I'm suprised this didn't happen ten years ago.

I wonder if there are any good bargains to be had in a potential fire sale? If Ricki is on prowl in the UK it may be a good time to drop in on a Cherries game. Anyone know Bournemouth well enough to suggest a bargain?

Luton might be a better bet...

Luton? The worst ground and worst fans and worst away end for any visiting fans in the world!! You just about have to go through peoples back yards to get into the away end! Players are average - except Paul Furlong. at 38 and he's still delivering the goods. The man is a folk hero at QPR, even now.

Both Bournemouth and Luton will drop into League 2 now. Both will need to shed just about all their players and rebuild with youngsters and Conference/League 2 players on lower wages. Bournemouth,s future is still not secure and they may have to go out the league and become a phoenix club at the end of the season. A merger deal with Weymputh is under discussion. Luton a bit better and they should be able to re group next season and do reasonably well at League 2 level.

You can be guaranteed two things - the Premiership won't give a sh*t and neither will the Football League. They'll all be concentrating on getting their free tickets in the hope of another Man U V Chelsea Cup Final.

What a difference 8 years can make.

And isn't it fudgeing glorious. Loving the premier league this year. Democratisation fights back. Money can't buy you love, no, no, no....

(Though as Terry Pratchett said through the mouths of characters ' You know that Money can't buy Happiness' 'Yes, but I thought I might be able to rent it for a while at least!' )
