Stumbled across this team when I went searching for their namesake from the Roy of the Rovers Monthly.

(vs Chelmsford in a friendly in July 2012)

Basildon play in the Essex Senior League which feeds into the Isthmian League, Division One North.

As with Guangzhou Fuli in the CSL I will use my tenuous connection with them (Essex innit) to follow them from here.

Tonight the Bees have a friendly game: http://www.basildonrecorder.co.uk/sport/9994528.Non_league_weekend_match_previews/

Basildon United did not have a competitive game tomorrow so they’ve arranged a friendly with Olympian League side Forest United. The match kicks-off at 3pm at Gardiners Close and admission will cost £3.

The Bees have been drawn at home to Burnham Ramblers in the quarter final of the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy.

It’s been another week of change at Basildon United, with John Mifsud lasting only a week as their new manager.

Bees chairman Paul Smith said he has received about a dozen applications for the job, that the new manager will be appointed in time for their home game with Enfield 1893 on October 27, and that whoever comes in will remain the manager at least until the end of this season.

And then got thumped 6-0 by Tilbury in the Essex Senior Cup (whatever that is) last night.

Next game is a league match against London APSA (whoever that is) at home on Sat 3 Nov.

Whoo hoo!

Basildon 2, London MENSA 0 (game abandoned after 65 mins)

Have no idea where that leaves them on the ESL table but it's good to see one of my stripey teams winning at last!

Cheers UK Kiwi.

Denise van Outen is also a Basildon native (Hotel Babylon and also TOWIE) - I never knew that until recently but I always liked her accent.

I like Adele's accent too (Tottenham - but close enough to Essex).

Basildon and Chelmsford were the big smokes for us when we were growing up in Runwell.

Despite offering free admission, Basildon go down 1-3 to Burnham Ramblers yesterday in the Gordon Brasted Trophy quarter final.

They have an ESL game in the weekend away to Bethnal Green (London).

A completely miserable weekend for all my stripeys, with Basildon also losing 2-3 away to Bethnal Green Utd.

Of slight consolation is that the Bees U13's have 6 straight league wins with a 10-1 rout over Thurrock Youth and the U21s beat Aveley Yoof 5-3

ESL even has its own wiki page so i guess it's not quite as grass roots as it first seems:

Bees are a workman like 13th out of 19th.

Basildon United 1, Sawbridgeworth Town 1
A good point earned sees them surge up to 12th

The U13s and U21s continue with their winning ways.

Last weekend: Burnham Ramblers 2 - 0 Basildon Utd (still 14 pts, 12th)

Wednesday friendly vs local team Billericay Town

Basildon didn't play last weekend (drew with Southend the previous weekend).  Which was the only thing stopping all of my stripeys having a complete melt down with the other three losing.

There is still a chance however as Basildon take on London APSA (again) on Thursday morning NZT.

The missus was watching "Love Actually" and I caught the end. If anyone has seen it, there's a lad who flies to the US to score some chicks. They're like "Are you from England?", he replies:

"Yes I am, Basildon"

Last two games for Basildon were postponed.  The last one because the pitch was waterlogged.

Jesus Wept!

The bees get stung 5-0  by Takeley (who move to 3rd in the ESL).

So now they are a mere 25 pts away from the leaders and 7 pts away from relegation.

Two losses, two draws for my stripeys this weekend (not counting the Basildon U13s and U21s who had good wins as per usual). *FML*

Hahaha, just saw this the other day and thought of the Bees. Fever Forum is infiltrating real life faaaar too much when you watch films and they remind you of obscure teams somewhere in the backwaters of the UK.

In a similar vein - I was just in the supermarket and KC & the Sunshine Band were hammering out "Give it Up".  So of course naturally I'm singing to myself "N-n-n-na na n-n-n-na na na, Danny Vukovic Vukovic, Danny Vukovic".

Patrick's post in the League Table thread reminded me that I haven't updated the Bees' stellar progress this season.

They got a valuable away win against London APSA/MENSA (0-1) yesterday.  Earlier in the week they lost to Haringey & Waltham.

In news that is sure to rock the Essex sporting elite - Basildon U13's had a rare loss to ...EURO DAGENHAM (oh the ignomy).
