and who do you think should be captain?

Gilberto for captain, and we should never sign van Nistelrooy, that would have to be the stupidest thing Arsenal could ever do.

Probably someone like Ryan Babel. Some unknown or talented young player.

Gilberto or Toure for captain. Probably Gilberto with Toure VC.

As far as strikers go, I doubt Wenger is going to sign a has-been.

martins would be a nice signing, but i doubt it wuld happen. atletico will want to much for torres which is a shame. im thinking it will probably be anelka.

I am hearing strong rumours that Anelka will return now Big Sam has left and there is a feeling that Bolton will slide back this season.

Fernando Torres needs to leave Athletico.  They have relied on him too long without ever adding any real depth to help him.  He would benefit from playing at Arsenal, but I dont think it will happen.

A striker who doesn't choke in all the big games would be appreciated!

And we could do with a Fab captain.

Fernando Torres is quality, but would cost a bucket load. Personally i'd love to see David Villa but would cost even more than Torres

Silva for captain and anelka up front.

Gilberto showed last year he was a quality captain and no doubt he'll be captain this year.

my point was really quesitoning why they shouldn't consider van nistlerooy. was just interested as to why whoever posted it thought it'd be stupid to actuaally have the plyer. I agree it's not a likely scenario.

I think Carlos Tevez from west ham would be a great buy.

I would like to see Tevez but they want between 25 to 28 million for him.

I think Babel has said he wants to stay another year. Huntelaar has been at Ajax one year but could easily be sold at a not too expensive price.

The problem with martins according to some sources is that he is all speed and missing the class in front of goal that we need. I would like us to sign proven finisher, we have enough speed, just not enough people to put it in the back of the net.

I think Martins could turn out to be a proven finisher if we give him the chance.

Perhaps in wouldn't be the stupidest thing Arsenal could do, but I certainly wouldn't appreciate van Nistelrooy moving to Arsenal. He played for Manchester United and, as you are probably aware, their is a strong rivalry between the two clubs, not helped by the fact the van Nistelrooy is a goal poacher who scores most of his goals from 4 yards out and does precious little else (that's not entirely true, but he does score a lot of goals from close range) and he has scored his fair share of goals against Arsenal.

In the last paragraph when I said that van Nistelrooy is a goal poacher, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but Arsenal would want another striker who can score from anywhere and make his presence felt all around the park (like Henry).loyalgunner2007-07-02 20:44:44

Apparently he was around the GBP7.5m mark....that still leaves quite a bit of money for a wide midfielder.

Wenger is a master at signing potential.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing this guy play for the mighty Gooners.

If Wenger has been following Eduardo De Silva since last year, maybe he was going to be signed anyway, maybe to replace Reyes who was never going to return to arsenal.

Well we know now that Torres is out of the question for Arse. I wonder who they'll target? Perhaps Whinger does already have someone lined up. .

I think walcott/rosicky were signed after reyes left so i dont think they will be looking to buy on the wings to replace him. I wish we would hurry up and sell him. 

Yeah i dont think we need wide players.
