I fly up on the 25th, back on Sunday July 5th.

My understanding is the games are on June 27th in Suva and June 30th in Ba.

Who wants to:

  1. share a car/van hire potentially either from 26th - 28th or from 26th - 30th?
  2. head off to one of the outer island resorts for July 1st - 4th?

I THINK I will do either Plan A or Plan B:

Plan A is to:

  • Stay the 25th in Nadi/Denerau and then
  • drive to Suva, stay in (or on the way to) Suva on the26th and in Suva on the 27th.
  • drive around the North coast of Veti Levu 28th and 29th staying somewhere along the way and/or do one of the interior road drives.
  • Go to the game on the 30th.
  • Return the car or van on the 30th.
  • then (optional for people to join this pert or not as suits them) head to an outer resort July 1st - 4th
  • fly home on the 5th

Plan B is to:

  • Stay the 25th in Nadi/Denerau and then
  • drive to Suva, stay in (or on the way to) Suva on the26th and in Suva on the 27th.
  • drive straight back to Denerau(or other resort location) return the hire vehicle, and chill out at a resort for two days.
  • Go to the game on the 30th.
  • then (optional for people to join this pert or not as suits them) head to an outer resort July 1st - 4th
  • fly home on the 5th

Keen to share bookings of the vehicle, accommodation etc. with people to make it more economical.

Anyone interested?

Thanks.

I found a Toberua Island Resort, but not a Toberau... ;)

You've stayed there before? From the website it looks better than okay...?

Anyone who is interested the bures come in three flavours:

http://toberua.com/your-residences/tropical-ocean-front-bure From FJD$398 (NZD$258) per night, based on stay 7 nights, pay for 4.

http://toberua.com/your-residences/deluxe-ocean-front-bure From FJD$494 (NZD$321) per night, based on stay 7 nights pay for 4.

and

http://toberua.com/your-residences/premium-ocean-front-bure From FJD$597 (NZD$388) per night, based on stay 7 nights, pay for 4.

I'm pretty keen on that.

The resort does transfers as required by guests and they say they will leave 24 hours to get you to airports etc when needed.

Might look at negotiating to stay there after the first game (which is on the 27th) for June 28, 29, 30 ,  and July1, 2, 3, 4 for the 7 nights deal and see if can transfer back on the 30th for the trip to Ba/Lautoka for the second game.

That's the one. Try not to get one of the two bures next to the pool table. The rest are really good.  Food is actually fantastic.

I think it's one of the best ones that side of the island.

there is a budget option I stayed at many many years ago which is a bit further out. That actually is a better island in terms of sand etc. can't however remember the name. Will try to find it.

Thanks.

For anyone interested in Toberua, the rates above ar elower than what they are offering for June/July. The rates above are stay 7 pay for 4, and the quote they have given me (iitially) is stay 7 pay for 5.

For one of the Deluxe Oceanfront Bures they have quoted as follows:

For 1 adult including accommodation, meals and transfers in a Deluxe Oceanfront Bure for travel June/July 2015.

  • Accommodation = F$6,342 less 2 nights = F$4,530.00
  • Daily Meal Plan Rate @ F$160.00 per adult x 2 = F$1,120.00
  • Return Transfers @ F$216.00 per adult x 2 = F$216.00 (note I asked for TWO transfers to and from Suva, so that for the game in Ba on the 30th I could go back to Suva, and then travel to Ba for the game, and then travel back to Suva, and back to the island... That may not be feasible depending on kick off time etc. - I have tweeted asking the club what time kick off in BA is.

Grand Total = F$5,866.00 = c. NZD$3810

Which includes: Accommodation, morning and afternoon teas, daily maid service, evening turn down service, all complimentary activities including snorkelling, sailing, SUP boards, Kayaking, path putting and reef golf.

and

  • luxurious Sleepmaker king-sized bed
  • 2 single beds
  • ceiling fans
  • indoor/outdoor bathroom
  • Pure Fiji toiletries
  • hair dryer
  • beach towels
  • mini bar
  • coffee and tea making facilities
  • large covered deck
  • swing seat
  • hammock

I have gone back to them and explained that potentially some other Phoenix supporters might be interested in staying there, so I have asked them for a price for each of the following as well:

  • 1 person staying in a Tropical bure.
  • a couple staying in a Tropical bure.
  • a couple staying in a deluxe bure.
  • 1 person staying in a premium beachfront bure.
  • a couple staying in a premium beachfront bure.

They also have a new 3 bedroom Lagilagi Villa which they mentioned wasideal for families. I have asked if 3 adults could book and share the Villa and have asked for a price for that too.

Lots of expensive accomodation options in Fiji, a lot looking out of my price range at the moment (e.g more than $1000).

Once I can work out accomodation then I'll be able to firm up travel plans.

Wish they'd finalised and announced that when they announced the tour and released the cheap flights.
