Its like 7pm on a Sunday,

Its the worst time for us to play,

Hey FFA, won’t you let us stay?

Cause we are…. The Phoenix

I feel it could do with some work, tune is good though.

Unsung but still worthy. Needs some choir practice.....

"I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
I kissed a girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town, dirty old town."

"This is our club, belongs to you and me
We are Wellington, we're Phoenix FC
We may never go home
But we'll never feel down
When we build our own ground"

Jeffrey Sarpong, I want to be Jeffrey Sarpong

Our own Dutch/Ghanian number seven, our seven, our seven.

Tune works, second line maybe needs work though, all I could come up with.

Blatantly copied from Everton FC:

Ernie had a dream
To build our football team
We had no money so we signed some youth for free
In yellow and black
With Roy in attack
Well-ing-ton Phoenix
We're on our way back

Der der der, der der der, der der der REPEAT...

[From 15 secs]

Wheres Jeff? is he on the inside?

Wheres Jeff? is he playing out wide?

Theres Jeff, he will brush you aside!

Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Why yi yi yi

Jeffrey, Jeffrey here, Jeffrey, Jeffrey there,

Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, everywhere,

Jeffrey, Jeffrey here, Jeffrey, Jeffrey there,

Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Why yi yi yi

--------------------------------------------

Not sure this would work as a chant or not. Leader does "Wheres Jeff/Theres Jeff" bits? Or forget the first verse and use the first two lines from v2 and repeat. Just ideas, could be amusing though.

Always loved this Anderson chant.

---------------------------

Rogerson son son,

He’s better than Cleberson (or: He came here from Hamilton)

Rogerson son son,

He’s our youngster magician,

On the left, on the right,

He’ll be everywhere in sight,

He is fast, watch him pass,

AND HE COULD STILL BE/IS STILL IN CLASS!

I walked out, You left me

You know I'm hurting for you
It seems now that it's over
But there is nothing I can do
I don't know
Why does Phoenix do this to me
I don't know
I don't know

Ricki came, he went away
Now we've got Ernie and he's here to stay but

It seems I'm thinking of you
But I'm still thinking about myself

Good work.

I think: "Why do The Nix do this to me" works better.

And, after the last line, obviously, repeat the chorus:

I don't know
Why do The Nix do this to me
I don't know
I don't know

It's far too much of a rugby chant for me to want to go anywhere near it.

Really?

I have NEVER heard ANYONE chant that at the rugby.

I've heard it played over the loud speakers at the sevens, but you can say that about literally dozens of songs...

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
we don't have much money but boy if we did
I'd buy a big marquee which could score many goals!

If I was a coach, but then again, no
Or a man who makes decisions in a football show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you!

We should have used Rocket Man when we had Reddy. I reckon it could be used for Ridenton though.

Yes, it's a massive rugby song.

Admittedly it was a token gesture to the "I don't want to sing other teams chants, lets do something kiwi". Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Put you down as a no shall I?

I always thought that Roly Roly Bonevacia would work well with Glory Glory Hallelujah or something along those lines. Simple, easy. The last line could be 'We love to watch him score'

My guess is there would be too many Man U haterz in the Zone for this to work.
