A good start to the season for Waitakere.
2 nil over Team Wellington.
The tough match will be against Auckland City FC at Fred Taylor 13 th November.

I browsed through the site and couldn't find a 100% Waitak thread, so here it is.

Hey,

Im realy interested to know what waitakere fans think about Jake Butler.

It seems the only club that thinks he is any good is Waitakere. He seems to get a game week in week out.

He has never attracted much interested from other clubs and has never made any NZ teams in his career.

Ive watched him alot and im like most, confused to what Waitakere see in him as a player?

In the preview to this weekends game it says Mike Gwyther and Zane Sole have been dropped for discipline reasons. Any one know anything about this? Was it something that happend on their recent away trip? Gwyther has never been far from strife, he was stood down by Waikato after being arrested in Wellington after an  allwhites game.

Also rumours that Bale and Emblen had a severe bust up mid week and nearly came to blows.

Waitakere are flying at the moment, cant see why they are having internal problems.

Sometimes it is just as difficult for certain players to find and accept their role, in a successful team as it can be in a team that is struggling. Friction like that can also be a product of a tough and unforgiving training environment, which is a precursor to on the field success.

Whatever the reason, I am sure that Waitak and their personnel are generally very pleased with their season so far.

Fred Taylor Park, 6 tonight Phoenix A (Reserves) v Waitakere United.

I don't think the Phoenix will know what's hit them.

Yeah, once the 23 Ytak supporters greet the Nix with their famous Wall of Silence, the Nix boys will sh*t themselves

Yeah, but he didn't exactly get great service. Ricki should sign Krishna, gosh. Crowther made some nice saves too, although will probs feel he could have done better with the penalty. Pretty easy, tbh.

Ricki has looked at Krishna twice.

Do you really think he's better than Ifill, Daniel, Leo and Marco which is who he would be competing with for a (wideish) attacking player ?

I would have him ahead of Daniel, maaaaaybe Leo. I think he's probs a more complete player than them. Buuuuuut, I have a feeling that Ricki might know a bit more about football than me... Plus, the way he plays isn't exactly suited to the 'direct' approach of the Nix.

I think you're biased.

I like the way he plays but I don't think he's stepped up from where he was when he first appeared at 18/19 which he needs to do to make the step up to professional football.

Remember the Nix are not the only A-League side that have (supposedly) looked and said no.

Yeah, I'd defo say that I was biased. Plus, the fact that its pretty much the best football I can watch live also means I don't really know how big of a step up it is etc from that level to the Nix (whereas you guys regularly see the level of A-League as well as this tournament and can thus compare). Yeah, agreed again, but its hard to improve when there is fk all challenging him.

In saying that, I (personally) thought he was the best player on the pitch yesterday, head and shoulders (not literally ) above, say, Pav, even when Krishna went into the centre for a while. Tbf, could be that he was getting better service, off the ball movement etc, but still...

Also, cracking atmosphere... I actually think there was more noise in New Lynn library when I was studying a few weeks ago than there was at Fred Taylor. Pathetic.

Yeah, although I did make some noise not because Lochy did that "professional foul" but because I was checking my shares and a think I might have sold too early....

Gutz. Still, some (misplaced) noise is better than none!

The best part was when Roy was taken out just outside the box by, possibly, the last man and Pav came running over to protest the decision. The ref was pulling the player away from the rest, so his punishment was unsure. And Pav comes running over and yells "He didn't even touch him" (with possibly some more expletives ) and me and my mates starting laughing on the sideline. Pav turns to us with a big smile and started winking and giving us the thumbs up  Hero.

2-1 Waitak over Manawatu at HT.
2 for Dakota Lucas on the right, both break throughs & feeds from Sean Lovemore.
2 one on ones for Pearce, & 1 for Krishna, failed to convert.
V nice 1 2 Hayne to Michael White waiting at the back of the net for the goal.
Chettleburgh making space.

And Wgtn squeeked in 3-2 in the last minute over Waikato.
Very strong wind blowing in, goalie nightmare.
