SS Premiership Tipping Competition 2016/17

Welcome to the SS Premiership Tipping Competition for 2016/17. This competition will be using a similar but not exact same format as RR's A-League Tipping Competition. 

Format:

• Depending on the amount of players there'll be one, two, three or more divisions. 8 players per league. There can be 8, 10, 12, 14, etc. players at the lowest division.
• 3 seasons (rounds 5 to 11, rounds 12 to 17, rounds 18 to final*).
• Promotion and relegation after each season.
• New Zealand Football Cup (via gameweeks during second or third season depending on number of players).

Anyone is welcome to join. If this competition has already begun you are welcome to still join at any stage starting at the lowest division if someone else also joins that same week because there must be an even number of players in any division. Obviously starting late will make it harder for you to be promoted the first season you play but nevertheless you are allowed to do so.

The last matchweek of each season will see the 6th placed player in each league (except bottom league) play a double gameweek against the 3rd and 4th placed players in the league below them in a relegation/promotion playoff. The player that defeats the other two will be promoted/not relegated.

1st and 2nd are automatically promoted and 7th and 8th are automatically relegated.

* Rounds 18 to final are the following (check Wikipedia for clarification): rescheduled Round 18 matches to be played on 4 & 5 March 2017; rescheduled Round 17 matches to be played on 12 March 2017; Round 18; Semifinals and Final.

For the first season I am still deciding whether to assort you each to random divisions or have one big division for everyone with divisions decided on each players' rankings in the first season.

Scoring:

• Home win:  2 points
• Draw:  3 points
• Away win: 3 points
• Correct win margin (must be exact):  1 bonus point
• When tipping: guess exact scoreline for 1 bonus point (0-0, 1-0, 2-2, etc.)
• So yes you can get 2 bonus points from 1 good prediction!

Cheers for signing up lads. I'm looking forward to this and hopefully I can make it go on for the next season and many more seasons ahead too. The first season will be one big division because I think it'd be unfair to sort us into one division or another when perhaps the best players could actually end up in the bottom league. So instead starting from the second season there'll be 2 or more divisions. Entries to this tipping competition close at 12 pm tomorrow with the first match starting at 1 pm tomorrow. 

At the end of this season (Round 11, 14–15 January) the top 7 will remain in the top division with 8th, 9th and 10th in that round playing a three-way playoff where the player who does best between the three of the wins.

@20 Legend: You can format your post however you like; any of the formats I've seen on this thread are fine. You can also just use initials to make it quicker to post if you'd like (HBU, AC, TW, etc.). If your post has an odd format and I'm not sure what you're tipping I'll let you know but pretty much anything goes as long as it's understandable.

Considering that at the end there are an odd number of players that means one person each week will play against the Overall Median, which as the name suggests will be the median of everyone's scores. Overall Median won't be in the top division next season and neither will they be in any other division if the number of players is even. Unless someone new signs up and then we will have an even number of players which would be ideal. Welcome everyone and good luck for season 1.

One spot still open for a new player. If you haven't signed up yet, you are more than welcome to do so as we need one more player to make the numbers even (instead of having the overall median). However, you will end up playing one match less than everyone else by the end of season 1 (6 matches instead of 7) as a result of signing up late. After (if?) one new player signs up, from then on I will only allow new players to join in pairs in order to keep the number of players even.
