Who do we want to see in a white shirt?

What about Guardiola from Auckland (via Colombia but now a NZ citizen)...looks a bundle of energy in the midfield.

I'm surprised he's picked up multiple National League gigs myself, has never looked particularly good at doing much more than winning soft free kicks to me.

yeah nah, got a long way to go before even being considered - was actually surprised that Auckland City picked him up. I remember seeing him play for the Nelson Falcons in the Youth league and he looked great, but he hasn't really changed much since then

At this stage I'd be happy to see almost anyone in a white shirt - I just want a game and a team to support!

Bit of a hot head as well, punched me in the face during a high school game once. Always struck me as a Kwabena Appiah type player.

Probably better on the ball and nowhere near as quick, but I get what you're getting at.

less than 2 months until our first game - apart from obvious ones like McCowatt, who do we see getting called up? Mata? Just? Bell?

i'd like to see Dan Morgan, McGarry and Tavano (sounding like a broken record at this point, the way i'm pushing him) get their debuts

Are we selecting a C side? We'd be better off taking last season's U-20 side than calling up the likes of Morgan and Tavano.

Here's an opening 22 assuming all players fit and available:

Marinovic, Woud, Crocombe

Reid, Smith, Boxall, TAHW, Fenton, Libby, Wynne, Doyle

Rufer, Payne, Thomas, Bell, Lewis

Wood, Barbarouses, Singh, Rojas, de Jong, McCowatt

Standby: McGarry, Elliot, Brockie, Collier, Mata, Just, Inghams

With the the USL/MLS seasons over by November (leagues that don't stop for FIFA windows) this should be very close to a full strength AWs squad, ie unless injured all available

Don't expect any Handy Prem level players to be picked.

LBs/LWBs will likely be Cacace & McGarry. Wynne has been injured for a few months now. Morgan is probably a chance (albeit small) now that he is playing pro football. Kyle Adams can play there also.

Probably depends whether Hay wants to experiment with a few guys, he may know little about (Adams, Musa, Collier, N Boxall, Kirwan etc - even Themi) - esp in the 2nd game verus Lithuania. He has all the A League/Handy Prem seasons to watch those based downunder, and see up close.

Possible 1st XI verus Eire.

Marinovic

Fenton, M Boxall, Smith, Cacace

Tuiloma, Thomas, Joe Bell

Rojas, Singh, Wood

Bench/squad - Woud, Tzanev, Brotherton, Mcgarry, Roux, Rufer, Musa, Lewis, Just, McCowatt, Barba, Collier

Assumed injured/not ready - Reid, Wynne

He has been poor in almost every goal the Mariners have conceded this year.  Not a chance.

I'm going to rock the boat and say Ridenton doesn't deserve an AW callup. He's playing in a wooden spoon team and has hardly excelled. I really fail to understand the hype behind him.

He's a 21 year old kiwi midfielder footing it at a professional level. We don't have many, especially many young guys, doing that.

I think Stensness is doing far better at the Mariners - Talay must be regretting losing him.  It's difficult to see the reason for Ridenton's call at all.

I think this might be the strongest All Whites XI with everybody fit and available. Right back still a weak spot for me but once back from injury Ingham might be the best bet over Roux/Fenton/Payne. If not you could put Boxall at RB with Smith or Tuiloma starting at CB and move Pijnaker or Brotherton to second choice CB. I'd have Waine over Mata/De Jong/Collier as well, just offers more and has a higher ceiling I think. Definitely think that Lewis, Stensness and Musa deserve a go in the squad, they've all got to be improvements on Rufer, Ridenton and WeeMac. Overall not a bad team and could look fairly strong once some of the key younger players have developed some more.

pretty much this but two glaring players need to be changed

Ingham and McCowatt

Rojas has it all over the later

In terms of the former he shouldn't be near the side

Place Boxall at right back and bring smith into the centre of the defence

Then that's not a bad team

Auckland will rise once more

I’d drop Woud from the squad and bring in either Sail or Crocombe.

Stensness/Woud too old for the list?

I agree with 4 of the top 5, but only because I don't know Stamenic.
