Was the ONC final the first time the AWs or for that matter, any NZ male or female side, have been involved in one?

The U17 men needed them to win Oceania last year. So we're 2 from 2 (no U20s due to WC, U23s DQd) since Hudson came in...

Hudson is a clearly a tactical genius when it comes to penalties.

Ironic really given the numerous British teams that have failed at them in major tournaments.... Maybe England might poach him in time for the Iceland game!

Gordon said in the commentary that it was the first time the Nations Cup had ever gone to penalties. As for the All Whites, they had two games in a row that went to penalties in 1999 in a Four Nations Tournament in Thailand.

The first one came against Thailand after finishing 2-2. Thailand won 4-3 on penalties.

The next game was a 0-0 draw with Poland which Poland won 5-4 on penalties.
