I found infos about 3 of the players mentioned before who are in the US

But for Joe Dawkins to play at the U20:

According to the last link he was born in march 1981 so I am not sure if I would have to add him in the list...

Ok, i ll add him.
I found two young overseas players who have the NZ citizenship and would be eligible to play for the AW's  Dominik Traunmuller who plays in Bayern munich and izaak hart in Hapoel tel aviv. Traunmuller who is a right back already played for austria u17 but can still change allegeance

So here is the update of the 20 best overseas players:

Stefan Marinovic SV Wehen wiesbaden(germany) 1991
James Mcpeake (Fairleigh Dickinson University) 1991

Dominik Traunmuller(Bayern Munich) 1993
Joe Dawkins(Florida international university)1991
Anthony Hobbs(Florida international university)1991
Luke Adams(Birmingham city) 1994
Luke Rowe (Birmingham city)1992
Neko Vujevich(Queensland academy of sport)1992
Luis esteves (Belenenses) 1992
Plus James Musa(Phoenix) 1992

I think players like Traunmuller should be capped immediatly in NZ first team, not in the u20.
We can't risk to lose them, they could be very important in the future...

I totally agree with that but I think that Herbert should go to germany to convince him to switch allegiance epecially because he is a right back!

Also traunmueller was born in Bangkok and played football there until 2008 and now has a contract with bayern munich until 06/2012. So he would even be eligible to play for Thailand at the senior level!

The PG website says he's played for the Australia U-17s.
http://www.perthglory.com.au/default.aspx?s=yleague_profile&pid=2402&tid=272
Not sure what that means re eligibility for NZ U-17/U-20.  iIve not seen him, but is he that good he would displace a 1991 player?

Also, I saw Luke Adams at the U-17 training the other night, so he's not in Birmingham at the moment!  He's a great talent no question; but, once again, is he really going to be stronger than a 1991 lad given he's a 1994?

Played for Oratia United a year behind Ashton Pett and Dylan Windust who played for the Oratia Hammers. Was called into the Oratia Hammers team for a couple of tournaments and went to Titirangi Primary school before he left for Australia. Was always a pretty handy player in his age group.

You do tend to assume that just because someone is overseas they must be better than those here...

Worth exploring.

Personally i would say that someone at age 16 at Ajax is better than a 16 year old here, on the basis getting in an academy in holland compared to New Zealand would be infinately harder, let alone getting into the Ajax acadamy which to my understanding is a highly regarded one.

The more names / players we have to look at the better, surely!

Why can he be the U17 version of Winston Reid?? (Although his links were clearly known)

I don't think that's a safe assumption to make - that someone in a foreign academy is automatically better than anyone here.

What it certainly is is an indication that they have something and NZF should look at them.

Unfortunately the fifa rules doesn t allow Murphy to switch back to NZ. In Fallon case, he never represented NZ in an officcial game and only played for England youth before switching to the AWs

I think you will find Colin Murphy never played or made himself available for the US. Remember he played for NZ at the U17 World Cup in Korea.                                                                                      I believe he is back in NZ on holiday and will attend the U20 training at North Harbour on Jan 2 along with 30 other hopefuls including most of the other overseas based players who are in contention.

He's with the Residency program now (also a youth team), so the correct link would be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vancouver_Whitecaps_Residency. I don't think that particular Prospects team even exists any more - they didn't play in the PCSL last year, and the Whitecaps website doesn't mention it either although the club still runs age-grade prospects programs.

Actually next season Vancouver Whitecaps are moving to the MLS. So there might be an academy for young talents where the best could graduate to the first team(developpemental contracts) like it's already the case with Toronto FC.
