Watching A-League last night Brisbane v Newcastle

Mitch Cooper: 21, Plays for Newcastle as a AM/Striker?. Scored, could bring more of a physical presence to the midfield than what we currently have in the AW's. Played U17s for Australia but lived in NZ previous so still eligible (confirm). Has had knee injuries in the past.

Just lived in NZ? Was he eligible to represent NZ at the time he represented Australia at U17 level?

Monty Patterson is injured. It was some time ago but IIRC it was quite serious

Well not now considering injury, but when Monty Patterson had a run in U-23 and U-20 World Cup, I thought he was class on the pitch and could prove to be a lethal player right behind Wood if developed and integrated into the All Whites set up.

Dylan Burns was just a name I threw out, ill be honest about that.

Ben Mckendry just interests me.

Its like when we heard of Henry Cameron, Themi and Ben VDB, you get curious of those players on whether or not they will be good enough to fit into the squad.

Hence why I chucked question marks on all their names. I was literally just chucking names out there.

Well I'd say he would be given an exemption like so many other guys recently as he lived here for 5 years for non-footballing reasons, so you would assume he'd be eligible a-la Tommy Smith. EDIT yeah never mind.. forgot Smith played for England in 2007 when the eligibility rules were different - he was eligible under the old rules to play for NZ at the time. You're right it entirely hinges on his parents or grandparent, unless exemptions can be given retrospectively...

McKendry has a two year MLS contract with Vancouver. Was player of the year when loaned down to USLPro VWFC2. Are there any other Kiwis with an MLS contract?

Must have Australian parent/s - wikipedia lists him representing Australia at u17 lvl - he would not have had time to even get Australian citizenship

Yes,

Kip Colvey at San Jose Earthquakes. Jake Gleeson at Portland Timbers.

James Musa trialled at Chicago.

Actually, only Gleeson has a contract. Colvey has been picked in the draft and now he's trialling at San Jose Earthquakes (just like Andrew Bevin with Seattle Sounders last year) and Musa's trial only lasted a few days because of an injury, he's back at Saint Louis.

No not anymore. He wasn't picked up (unsurprisingly) in the Re-Entry draft:

Ingham moved to Brisbane to play when he was 16. His mum is born in New Zealand but has Samoan background and he is looking to emulate cousin Jonny Hall and one day represent the island nation.

Bit derogatory calling us an island nation ;-)

Plays for Melbourne Victory.

Has done some handy things.

Taller than our other wing options.

You are probably thinking about Omar Guardiola, he is Colombian, but was living in Blenheim and has played for Nelson Falcons (2 spells) and Heartland Wairarapa in the youth league, now with Lower Hutt

Rob Pickstock at NZF got back to me after I emailed him about these players - good news is that NZF are already aware of these guys (plus others mentioned on this site), so it's good news that their scouting network is pretty efficient.

Apparently, two of the lads from Western Pride, the team that the All Whites will face in build up to the OFC nations cup are eligible for NZ.

Daniel Mchenery - Born Jan 1997

http://westernpridefc.com.au/player/daniel-hayden-...

Geoff Macintyre - Born Feb 1990

http://westernpridefc.com.au/player/geoff-macintyr...

Not sure if useful or good enough to play for NZ. Just something I found. Thought I would share.
