Haha, all good. I think Durante's days are done for the AWs though regardless of what position he is in!

Still disagree with this.

When Smith choose the Tractor Boys over country and Winston stubs his toe again then Dura will be there as an able squad member.

Fudge me. Within the first minute he says he has only watched the highlights.

Also apparently we have had 4 losses in a row under Hudson.

Grrr.

3 losses

1 draw

Great performance all round. Absolutely achieved Hudson's goal of creating competition for places.

Out of about 60 games if not more. That's a bit of a chunk. He didn't spend all that much out last season but did sit a bit out the season before that and quite a bit the season before that if my memory serves me right.

Watched the game and wondered if one up flattered to deceive. We certainly competed through the middle of the park and at the back, but created very little in the way of good chances from open play. We couldn't pass round them or dribble round them.

The team still seems to be short a couple of strikers. IE Smeltz, but 10 years younger.

Otherwise impressed with the team. We did better in the first half than second I thought and even then the Koreans were short of full intensity by some way I felt, though they certainly had their top players there.

The Nix game yesterday again highlighted (ref previous) that Wee Mac is simply not effective playing in central midfield (deep). I don't always agree with Danny Hay but he is bang on here. We need a number 8. This is why it was a little disappointing to see van de Broek only get such limited game time as I was hoping he could fill this spot. I sincerely hope Hudson didn't fall for the trap of trying to squeeze his best players onto the pitch regardless of their positional strength. Wee Mac playing Central/deep midfield is case in point. Hopefully his experiment is complete and he gives guys like Dan Keat a go- a guy who actually plays the position.

But in some respects, where is McGlincheys best position? Evidence suggests that as a right winger under Arnold, he was fabulous and that as an attacking midfielder, he is not as effective. I think we can agree he is not a deep lying play maker like Chris James but when you consider the log jam of Rojas, Thomas and Kosta on those flank roles, you might get him in the AM role for the AWs which he has not always been effective at.

While I'm back in the forum - IMO I thought the AWs got a great result on Tuesday. They had the potential to be on the end of a massive thrashing but only lost towards the very end. So well done AWs and Hudson!

Don't think a loss can ever be a great result, but all round it's pretty positive stuff.  Also, the more these young kids do well for the AWs the more likely they get picked up, by the Phoenix or elsewhere.

Fast forward to 14'41"

D'Arcy and Goran have a chat with retiring Black Cap Kyle Mills, head coach of the All Whites Anthony Hudson following their loss to Korea and Warriors half Shaun Johnson.

I'm surprised that the Dutchman didn't get a proper run. I can only assume that Hudson saw enough of him in training to gauge his ability

He's short of match play for his club in Romania.

The manager and Dutch technical director who signed van den Broek to play in Romania were sacked shortly after they brought him and three other Dutchmen to Cluj in the January transfer window (plus signed numerous other foreign players pre-season).

He was dropped after his first two games and said in interviews in the Dutch media that the temporary manager is favouring local players.

Looks like he'll have to find another club, unless a new manager comes in who wants to give the foreign players a go again.

After falling totally out of favour, looks like van den Broek's been getting some game time at Cluj since the Korea game:

He played off the bench in his clubs 1-0 win over Rapid Bucharest on the 4th. Rapid where the better team although they lost the mach. Watched the second half here in the UK (all in Romanian sadly).

Came off the bench again on the 7th in a 3-0 pumping.

Personally I'm still unsure on how good he is but I'd like to think he will get called up again and given a proper run out for us all to judge him.

Yeah agree. He is always better receiving the ball in wide positions rather than back to goal. I think he's the most likely of that bunch to play AM for us albeit Rojas is playing there for Thun. Given his versatility I think he'll plug whatever gap we have going due to availability and injury. A lot of these issues will go away when Riera gets his passport. Think that's 2017 in time for confed cup.

Some quality reports by Michael Burgess of the Herald who traveled to Seoul with the All Whites:

I like all the little details about training and game day.

Hudson sounds quite thorough and innovative in his methods (see the first link):
