Well, according to wikipedia the ASEAN football federation (AFF) has invited us to an U18 tournament in September.

Yep, listed on the official AFF website. Tournament starts 4th September. Interesting we haven't heard anything from NZF about it yet though?

This is a good tournament for the young guys to be involved in - some reasonable opposition in our group, but you'd think we'd be a chance to win the whole thing, although playing in Myanmar may be a difficult proposition for our young lads!

I wonder what this means for the National secondary schools week , same dates ? Also both 17s coaches are paid to coach schools , so some conflicts ?

All those countries are ASEAN member countries except the New Zealand team so NZ have done well to get entry or invitation to a tournament like that. It should give a good indication of NZ players strength against same age group from South East Asia

Surprising that Australia, as defending Champs are not listed.

Well that is disappointing - too expensive?

I imagine it's more likely a case of never being a thing to start with, than a late change.

Danny has suggested that the U17boys do not play at NZSS nationals and focus on training camps only.

Sacred Heart and St Kents will only weak teams
